Hopefully eating copious amounts of moules et frites, quaffing lots of Leffe Blonde and checking out the amazing Belgian coastline.

The beaches are beautiful - will try to post some piccies at some point!

Before that I will be mostly ironing, packing and trying not to get nervous about the flight tomorrow in a wee tiny plane!!

:?

And of course, there will be some alcohol.

Nothing as exciting as Belgium.....although I don't know if 'Belgium' and 'exciting' usually belong in the same sentence

Going into the Farmer's market at Castle Terrace tomorrow, not been for a while so looking forward to it, sad eh! Last time we were there we ended up in 'Blue' (at the Traverse) for lunch, could well be the case again!!

And although Findlay's sausages are great we are also planning on visiting (whisper this in case Bob is listening  ) Crombies on the way in - bit of a foodie weekend all told!

Tonight we're off to Caprice with friends and brats to celebrate a promotion and two birthdays. Tomorrow we're off to a bonfire on the beach, Sunday we're having our usual routine of pancakes for brunch, and on monday we too are going somewhere on a bus!

There was a small Portobello crowd heading out your way yesterday. Donny McIntyre was one of them, you may well know him?

Judging by his posts made at past 3 o'clock this morning, Porty perhaps enjoyed Whiggams a bit TOO much, don't you think??!!

Its apparently closed for a month, not going to be a Hotel anymore and is going to have a bistro. Whatever happens its got to be an improvement IMHO.

Whiggams (Sp) was really good, went to All bar One first and had nibbles which we had to send back as they were trash.

Erm...did you say Dadaist and Beachbabe lived in your abode prior to you? Didn't you like their interior designs then?

Dadaist said that, or rather he "owned it" (not lived) by a technicality!

I'm sure they remember the purple cornice & orange walls in the main bedroom and the bright green walls and gold cornice in the livingroom!

And all the bookshelves...

(How to offend the good citizens of Porty? Hm...)

Is there, like, some legal requirement to only sell the worst decorated houses in the UK here in Porty? Whenever the houses go up for sale on our street we continued to be stunned by the idea of what is "nice". And as for our own, the day we moved in, we wondered what had happened to our brains the day we came to view it. It was like changing rooms on acid. Don't believe me? Here's our bedroom as it was:

No wonder you had nightmares. The former tenant had obviously never heard of the idea of de-personalising a house before selling.
I'm still trying to figure out what those yellow and white things are meant to be - sand dunes? :? There appears to be a palm tree growing out of your window! At least it would be an appropriate backdrop for your bellydancing BB!

Yes, lovely blue skies, a navy blue sea with waves that only make you think of drowning, and sand dunes that look like they're actually vomit dunes, along with palm trees, one wall covered by a huge cracked dirty mirror, and dead twigs nailed to the walls.

And that was only one room.

We're going to a fundraising night at somebody's house in aid of a fireman who might have to get his arm taken off with cancer unless he can go to America for treatment. (the story was in the Evening News last week you might have seen it). He's related to one of Epy Juniors friends. Sure it'll be a very sober night

And we made £470!!

Ali and I go back to work on Tuesday  so will try to make the most of this weekend. Haven't quite decided what we'll be up to yet.

I know Poppy is off up north soon, lucky gel.

What's everyone else got planned?

Thought i'd stick this one the TGIF slot

While sitting on the top deck of the bus this morning a large dog popped it's head over a high garden wall of a property next to the bus stop we were at. It had a plastic ball in it's mouth which it placed very carefully on the cope and then nudged very gently, with it's nose, forward towards the people standing in the queue.

The ball then rolled very slowly until it fell off onto the pavement. The dog looked in anticipation at those at the bus stop, but no-one picked it up and threw it back over! As we drew away the dog looked totally gutted.

If anyone sees a plastic ball in the gutter on Joppa Road next to a bus stop, please throw it back over so the dog can start the weekend happy too.

What a wee shame. I can't believe no one threw it back over the wall to him/her.

What happened to a nostalgic evening in Whighams? Last time I went there I met a journalist from the Hexham Courant, a Spaniard, my wife and my business Partner!

That reminds me...is the Bedford definitely closed now until its reincarnation? I stupidly arranged a meeting there for this coming Monday, but will have to move it to the Pier... Of course, it's quiz night at the Pier on Mondays and I don't want to look like I spend a lot of Mondays in there...!

As for the weekend, a quiet and relaxing one to recover from a visit from my mother, and my father-in-law, at the same time, last weekend... A wee trip to a coffee morning tomorrow for some fabulous parkin, and a civilised dinner at somewhere very exclusive, followed by the usual Sunday brunch of pancakes.

Tomorrow I'll be going to East Linton to see my dad.

Then the PHS FP Rugby Club for the Race Night.

Sunday, off up north with El Presidente to Glenfinnan for the night, then Portree for two nights [via, of course, the lovely Morar Sands, Marya  ] then Kintail to visit my wee bro' on his croft. Home next weekend.

Luckily, we'll be in El P's limo so can take lots of waterproof stuff!!!
