Smoking in Public Places Consultation

Post by Porty » 26 Sep 2004, 14:37

May I request a Sticky?

I'm not a regular completer of surveys or consultation questionaires but I did take time to respond to this:

http://www.scotland.gov.uk/consultation ... ppc-08.asp

Apparently this consultation has had the highest number of response of all consultations. I believe it remains open until September 30th. So,if you are a smoker or non-smoker maybe you shoud donate your views? I can't think of a better way for you to spend 5 minutes with a keyboard.

(I made a couple of good suggestions myself and Im fully expecting to be in the New Years Honours list for the one about the Skunk.)

Thanks Porty, I feel strongly on this subject and have now made my views known. It really does just take a couple of minutes.

Smoking in Public Places Consultation

Thanks for raising this issue, Porty. We've sent our lengthy contributions which, hopefully, will have some effect.

Both took a bit longer than 5 minutes! I had to doctor husband's reply as he got so incensed his typing suffered badly.

Its good to air serious annoyances - feel much lighter now.

Bob, you can unsticky this now, as its over. Thanks for assisting.

Hope more of you contributed. Apparently 40000 did and 5 out of 6 voted ban. Not enough of a majority to sway the powers at be here on POL  ,I accept, but ought to be enough for the 'Executive' to act upon.

It was actually 53000+ repsonses. No final figures published yet but I'm guessing that SLP are going with popular opinion.

One thing that is clear from all of this is that the licensed trade are unscrupulous liars.

Not entirely. It's more likely that people who would not want a ban probably didn't vote. I started to fill the on-line thing in, and then got somewhat peeved at the amount of personal information they wanted, and gave up.

Yet the statistics for Scotland show that we lead in the way in deaths from smoking related diseases. We will concentrate on cars after this one!!! 8)
