Rugby players, past or present, enthusiasts - help?

Post by Jay » 06 Oct 2004, 12:53

Do I remember a thread that mentioned rugby? If so, perhaps someone can help me run a Christmas present to earth, for a former rugby player?

About 1990/91/92 - tv film about a Wales/New Zealand international having to be replayed, 10 years after the event, by the original players, on whom beer and age had taken its toll, because one of the linesmen of the original match, on his deathbed, confessed he'd deliberately given a wrong decision, which had decided the result. Anyone remember this?

If so, does anyone know if there was ever a commercial video produced, and where can I get it? I have trawled the usual video outlets over several previous Christmasses, with no success! I can't even remember which (terrestrial) channel it was on, far less the title and author, so I don't know whose website to look at!

Can anyone help?

Sorry!

I didn't imagine it, honest, 'cos I've met a couple of blokes, in pubs in different parts of the country, who also remember it! (but, sadly, not the title and where it was shown  ) I've been trying for years, literally, to get at least the title and author, or which channel it was on, so I can enquire somewhere! I really do want it for someone's Christmas present! I was hoping one of you rugby blokes could help!

A film called "Old Scores"? Made in '91...

Plot Summary for
Old Scores (1991)

Former Welsh rugby hero Bleddyn Morgan has his life in New Zealand interrupted by a deathbed confession that leads to a replay of a controversial 1966 All Blacks/Wales rugby match - with the original teams. The now old men pull on their jerseys one more time while Morgan deals with his past on his return home.

How on EARTH did you come up with that so fast, Wangi? Do you actually remember/have you seen the film? I can't THINK what you put in to a "search" to get it! I am flabbergasted - struck speechless!

A million thanks! :P :P :P :P :P

Yeah, done a search - although after reading the plot I think I may have seen it? I had a quick look on Amazon & EBay and got no hits, so I think you'll have a long strugle trying to source a copy!

PLEASE tell me what you used as a search!!!! I have been trying for a couple of years to work out a search to pick it up, but without title, author, where it was made, where it was shown etc., I couldn't think WHAT to put in! I did know that the composer of the music was Wayne Warlow, and I did find him on a search, but no means of contacting him was given - after which I gave up!

I may not be able to get hold of a copy, particularly on VHS, but at least I now have something to go on!!

With a bit of luck, someone close to me is going to have a good Christmas!

Gosh - isn't Porty Online wonderful! =D>

This link shows you what the video cover looked like but also states how hard it is to obtain a copy.

Happy hunting.
