Disappointed dog at Joppa

Post by Jay » 07 Oct 2004, 09:33

Ras - I was just wondering if, while passing by, you've seen any more of the poor dog that was so unkindly ignored by the travelling public? I wonder if anyone has been kind enough to retrieve his/her ball from the gutter yet.

no

i suspect the dog is cowering in it's kennel pondering the state of society today, when the simplest of kind gestures is shunned for fear of losing your place in the queue

i am also guilty, as i could have ran downstairs, stopped the bus, retreived the ball, thrown it back and returned to my seat - but i didn't for fear of looking like a total eejit

On the end of the TGIF thread
ras wrote: Thought i'd stick this one the TGIF slot

While sitting on the top deck of the bus this morning a large dog popped it's head over a high garden wall of a property next to the bus stop we were at. It had a plastic ball in it's mouth which it placed very carefully on the cope and then nudged very gently, with it's nose, forward towards the people standing in the queue.

The ball then rolled very slowly until it fell off onto the pavement. The dog looked in anticipation at those at the bus stop, but no-one picked it up and threw it back over! As we drew away the dog looked totally gutted.

If anyone sees a plastic ball in the gutter on Joppa Road next to a bus stop, please throw it back over so the dog can start the weekend happy too.
Sorry - I'm a big softy! I had to ask about it further!

Actually ras - bringing in the Nanny State thread here - if you had run downstairs for the ball, and had fallen down the stairs, or off the bus, or even tripped up in the gutter - could you have sued the dog?

i'm sure someone would have a go

you made me think about the stair though - i'm sure if i tried to put a stair in my house of those dimensions i wouldn't be allowed in case i fell down them... and the last time i looked my house wasn't moving - so if it's okay for buses why not for buildings?

Indeed!

You could probably get away with putting a staircase of the dimensions and steepness of a bus stair in your house if you motorised the house and drove it around Portobello.

I've just had an email from Stan Collymore to recommend Longniddry Bents car park no. 3. Hope this helps.

Sounds a right, good read.

Well for goodness sake get them back and post the relevant passage (maybe not the best use of words? ) on here! I've spent the whole day today in Longniddry and I can assure you I saw nothing untoward although it was getting steamy in the bedroom and a fair bit of stripping was happening in the hall
