Ever Green Trust Treasurer
The Ever Green Trust is a registered Scottish Charity (SC 029679) based at a small shop in Portobello.
The trust arises from a vision of human society based on equality, justice, co-operation, non-violence and respect for the created world of nature. For five years we have provided a base and contact point for people with interests, skills or resources relating to the arts, ecology and social justice.
We have traded in donated goods and organic food. We have exhibited local artists and hosted music and poetry events. We have disseminated information and been involved in campaigns about broadly based social justice issues as well as local concerns.
Most of this activity has been financed through trading and donations, and we are now in the process of reviewing and renewing our approach to our activities.
We require trustees to help us to do this, and in particular, we are looking for someone who will act as our treasurer. The main tasks are described below, and we would like to attract someone who shares our commitment to the Portobello community who could work enthusiastically and bring fresh ideas and emotional energy to the project.
The treasurer would be required to:
Attend trustees Meetings (approximately once a month)
Prepare financial records for the management committee
Provide the Management Committee with an accurate picture of the project’s financial position.
Keep accounts of projects income and expenditure
Reconcile any daily sales/cash records
Examine petty cash records
Reconcile bank statements
Present annual accounts
Ensure that the project understands and meets its legal obligations with regards to accounts and the requirements of its charitable status.
Provide an appropriate input to reviews or reports on the project
Prepare budgets for proposed activities.
Work with other trustees to
Develop tangible indicators of non economic benefits we offer/obtain,
Demonstrate environmental auditing of activities
Provide lets accounting
Attract capital and revenue funds to the project
The amount of time required to commit to this post would be at leat two hours per week.
