Talk about starting the week with a bang!

.... she says slightly breathlessly!

Went into the kitchen half awake, at about half-past six this morning, and discovered a van in flames in the car-park just behind the house, with the fire-brigade and police in attendance!! I had heard a bang about five minutes earlier, but thought it was the workmen next door starting early and dropping things! It was quite breathtaking to be confronted by flames leaping into a pitch black sky and flashing blue lights all over the place!

Not the start of the week - but..

Saturday night driving up Leith Walk with my Mum/Son and Son's friend in the car, all the traffic came to a standstill. Two armed Police Officers shouting at a couple of people to get out of their van/car with the automatic weapons pointing at the vehicle. My son and friend thought this was exciting stuff. The guys eventually got out of their vehicle (thankfully no shot's fired) I was absolutley terrified.

So would I have been! I don't think I've ever even seen an armed police officer!

The most surprising thing about this story is that you two are not surronded by armed police officers more often.

This brings back memories of our 5 happy years in Leith, in the Vaults overlooking the Banana Flats. We also awoke in the wee hours one morning to the strange glow of a car alight across the road. Most entertaining, but not for the owners of the cars parked either side which were crisped as well. Our friend staying with us, who was on her first overseas trip having left her partner as part of a midlife makeover, was convinced we had this thing happen every week.

All we've had here are the teenage boys drinking on the garage roof, and they ran away when they realised I could see them from the garden. (I have probably jinxed myself now ... hope not!) Oh, and the occasional police chase as there is a route to a laneway at the back of ours.

I like the sound of that Scossie5, can you explain exactly what is a "midlife makeover"
