Porto-Velo, the local cycling club, is organising a family ride on Saturday 29 June. (Note the change of date - originally advertised for Sunday 23 June, this ride has been postponed because of a poor weather forecast for Sunday.)
Aimed mainly at primary age children and their parents, this will be a gently-paced ride suitable for all, lasting for around 2 hours. It will leave from the bandstand (E end of the Prom) at 2.30 pm. The route will be on off-road paths and quiet roads. Please bring a snack!
Details of all Porto-velo rides and events are on our website (Calendar page): http://www.porto-velo.com. Any questions - post them here or e-mail us on info@porto-velo.com.
Family bike ride, Saturday 29 June
Re: Family bike ride, Saturday 29 June
Thanks to everyone who came along this afternoon, children and adults. We had a fun ride, from Porty along to Musselburgh, down by the harbour and beach, over the Esk footbridge and all round the coastal path to the far end of Musselburgh, then across the road to Prestongrange (where we stopped for refreshments) before heading back by a similar route. A 9-mile ride in over 2 hours was not too taxing for the grown-ups, but for some of the younger kids on their own bikes it was definitely an achievement. Despite the overcast weather, everyone seemed to enjoy it.
