Portobello Library launch Cuddlebook Corner

Mums, dads and tots gathered round for a story today, and to launch Portobello Library’s newly-created Cuddlebook Corner.

Around 50 parents and their children came to see fluffy friend Bookbug take part in the library’s weekly Rhymetimes, a singing and rhyming session for toddlers under three.

Using feedback from library visitors, the City of Edinburgh Council got together with design company thedesignconcept Ltd to create a welcoming area for parents and children under five to enjoy books.

The multi-use zone features bright, comfortable furniture and a special logo and is hoped to encourage people to relax.

Library Team Manager Paul Hudson explained that part of the reason for creating the designated corner in the recently refurbished library was due to the demand of their weekly Rhymetimes.
