Friends of Chernobyl Children (Portobello)

We are a Portobello-based charity group for Friends of Chernobyl Children.

For the last 2 years a group of 14 children have come from Mogilev Belarus to stay for one month in Edinburgh with families based in Portobello. They are from disadvantaged backgrounds and the region they come from is still heavily contaminated from the chernobyl radioactive fallout. These visits over 5 years are to build up the childrens immune systems and general health. While here they attend a school program, go on outing to places like the fire station, and the zoo and spend lots of time playing on the beach.

We have a lot of help and support from a number of Portobello based community groups and businesses.
