Archive Portobello Film Discovered

Post by Bob Jefferson » 05 Oct 2009, 18:17

Dating from 1958, this film commemorates the 150th anniversary of Portobello Lodge 226. As you might imagine, there is a lot of marching around in masonic regalia but stick with it because there is also some fascinating footage of Portobello in there.

The original film was only recently discovered and has been converted to DVD. I've tweaked it a little to improve the picture quality and made a couple of small edits.

As there is a 10 min/100 mb limit on material posted on YouTube, I have split the film into 2 parts. The first and most interesting section is now available to view on Portobelly Telly at:

Wow, the memories even if the film was made before I was born
The Power Station, Outdoor pool, Tower Street instead of Figgate Street, Melville Street instead of Bellfield Street, Rankins!
I kept looking to see in I could see my gandfather in the parade
