Opportunities for young teens in Porty
Opportunities for young teens in Porty
I've recently moved to Portobello with my 13 year-old daughter and I'm looking for activities she can get involved in this summer, keeping in mind the need for her to meet new people. Can anyone help out with recommendations?
Welcome to Portobello and TP Colin. How about
There is also tennis coaching and drop-in sessions on offer at Joppa Tennis Club, Joppa Grove, but I'm afraid I don't have all the details. There is a poster in the Community Council Notice Board by The Bank Of Scotland/Town Hall.
You can also take a look at the Coming Event's section on http://www.porty.org.uk/home/ as some of the art events might be of interest.
The new Sailing Club is also offering sailing and kayaking sessions to teenagers. Take a look at http://sailporty.org.uk/ for contact details.
Maybe someone else with a teenage daughter will have some other ideas?
There are other summer activities held in the Swim Centre. You can download the programme from http://www.edinburghleisure.co.uk/list-108Portobello Beach Junior Volley Ball Camp (8-14yrs)

* Week 2 - 12th to 16th July (Monday to Friday), 10.00am-2.45pm
Prices reduced

things for teens
Glad to hear there is this much as since the demise of Go 4 It by the council there has been a huge gap...even more so for older teens 15/16+
I work quite hard over the summer trying to ensure my 16 yr old son doesnt spend the summer in front of an X box! The new young person will at least meet loads of people if she's going to school here in Aug...have you met anyone else her age going to same school?
I am involved with the tennis courts at Joppa and trying to hold a teens tournament (for 13-18s)in the week/10 days before schools start again. there's a poster up there and in Scotmid but running out of places to display them that young
people will see...Pool wont display things not Edin Leis! SO, if you know anyone interested please contact me thru this site or as per the poster!

Re: Opportunities for young teens in Porty
It depend on what she likes. You can send here into summer camp if she want some juvenile type program or in teen volunteered program. They usually take age 14 and above for medical missions.
