POL-possible away evening? REM SECC Feb 22

Post by Porty » 12 Dec 2004, 11:41

Folks

Played rugby yesterday for what I believe will be the last time. Can't do it any more. Anyway, during the pre-match chat my mate, who runs a sporting events business (You may have seen his shop "Glory Days" at Eastfield) informed me that he is getting into the concert business and to show willing he has secured 24 good seats for the above Gig. Its sold out.

I believe tix are difficult to come by and he is not looking for anymore than Face, which is £39. I'm going, as I think an oppo to see a band like this is in a smaller venue than a stadium is unmissable. Dave says we can have all the tix, some of the tix, whatever? If enough of us wish to go then we could organise a coach and do a bit of tailgating. (Glasgow in Feb?).

If we dont get a critical mass but you still fancy going then pairs of tix are no problem. Whaddya say?

Not fond of the SSEC as a venue. It's still way too big for my liking.
Not sure I would pay £40 to see REM either.
I'll pass but thanks for the offer.

No bother,up until I saw Radiohead there last Nov,I would agree about the venue. It can be dreadful. So bad that i went to see Bruce there and left before the end.

What a brill idea but count me out for this one. I like REM but I have vowed never to go the SECC again - it is no more suitable a concert venue than my front room. When is Edinburgh going to get an arena? :)

If my Other Half posted on this forum, he would send his heartfelt condolences, Porty. :( That event occurred in his life about ten years ago. I will condole in his stead .......... :(

Gig's been cancelled as the bass player has severe flu.

Hope Porty and Co. aren't already on their way through there.
