Were you wearing a mini-skirt and low-cut top by any chance?

As always, Porty dear, as always...leopard skin top, leather skirt, six inch stilettos, bottled blonde hair in that lovely pineapple style on top of my head, and a fag hanging out my gob.

I figured it was up to people's imaginations...
I can't help it if people's imaginations are a bit...unsavoury!

Did you go straight to The Portobello Bar after Scotmid?

Yep. Left the kids standing at the door with my shopping and gave 'em a coke and a packet of crisps while i drank 12 Bacardi Breezers and sang Stand By Your Man, meaning every word of it, love, and my mate Tracy sang I Will Survive 'cause her bloke's just left her with them six kiddies and an hamster an' all.
Tomorrow I'm going to try the pub quiz at the Pier. Fancy myself as a bit of a brainbox, and I hear there's some right nice blokes go in there for t'quiz.

I don't think I've ever been quite that drunk. Was that before or after the bingo?

Probably right...otherwise people might not take my answers seriously...

Maybe I'll just stay home with a bottle of Lambrini and watch Corrie and paint my toenails instead.

Never done the Bingo but the Pop Inn almost always features in Porty Pub Crawls. I organised a Treasure Hunt round Bars in Porty about 5 Years ago. It was a mix of people some of whom had never been to any Bars in Porty and others who didnt dare. Im not kidding it was a fantastic night once the word got round the bars, we were welcomed everywhere. We ended up at the Karaoke in the bar that used to be the toilets almost at the foot of Kings Road? Everyone loved the experience.

Never done the Bingo .[/quote]

Oh I've done the Bingo! An education to say the least  Apart from taking about half an hour to figure out the numbers on the card are in a pattern and not random so you don't have to look ALL OVER the card ( ) every time, I was a) bored in a very short space of time and b) scared to shout anyway in case I got lynched by the regulars. Also made the faux pas of sitting in somebody elses seat to start with  All in all a very stressful experience!! (and I don't think I won anything)

Scotmid - What's it like? Where does one start :!: - its a nightmare :!: to say the least.
Has anyone been in Scotmid this weekend :?: - I thought supermarkets were trying to encourage people to shop in their stores, but Scotmid is the most people unfriendly store I have ever shopped in :? :( There is no room to move its so packed with xmas decs etc. - heaven forbid if you stop to try put something in your trolley :!:
and the Post Office - its even more of a nightmare. I was in yesterday afternoon and the queue was up to the fruit counter. Some of the old folk waiting did not look as though they would last the pace till they got served! - Mind you I know that has a lot to do with the powers that be closing our local Post Offices - I think Joppa Post Office closed last week, I don't know about the one at the top of Kings Road - is it still open :?:
Dare I say it, perhaps a new supermarket in the Porty area might not be such a bad idea after all    , give Scotmid some competiton and maybe then they might get their finger out and try to be bit more people friendly :!:

I helped a woman pack her bags in Scotmid yesterday. :angel5:

I really am very fond of Scotmid in some masochistic way but sometimes I do think they could do more to help people. This lady was struggling to reach the bags as she walked with two sticks and so in order to do the shopping had to use the trolley as a walking frame. She clearly couldn't really pack for herself as well. The check out person did help a wee bit, but I think they're limited in what they can do, so she was really struggling. As Lizzie said, just navigating through the aisles is a mammoth task right now!

Well I like Scotmid (The Brand) and until recently we were obviously spoilt by staying a stones throw from the 'City Store of the Year' - Tollcross Scotmid!!!!

Porty shop needs to put its bread where I can find it and move the booze to the back of the shop and open until 10pm, then it'll be fine for me!

POP :D
But It brightens the place up a bit , and makes you smile - doesn't it :?:
Anyway I don't think I use as many smilies as Jay does - I think she may be the "Smilie Queen " of POL.

I would like to say a very big thank you (even if she doesn't read this) to the very kind lady who pointed out that I had left my purse behind as I struggled to the packing shelf with my shopping today. Knew it would happen one day and luckily it was an honest person behind me. :thumbright: :thumbright: :D :D

Don't know if this has already come up, but thankfully we might be getting a new Tesco so we won't need to moan about Scotmid anymore!

Seriously - I'm thinking of starting my own campaign group, called DOGS. It doesn't stand for anything, the Portobello FOR the tesco campaign doesn't need an acronym to be cool 8)

I think MrSpoon has a bit of an obsession with Tesco, if rumour has it right that he went all the way to Dundee at midnight recently just to visit a "big one" there.......so I wouldn't take his campaign too seriously. He's just a bit nuts

Oh, don't be too hard on him. I'm a big fan of Tesco too and can relate to a midnight shopping trip. But Dundee?????

Look, we wanted to visit the biggest one in the Country, so we HAD to go to Dundee! We bought some instand muffin mix and sandwiches, then came home - was a grand adventure!

Im getting really irked about not being offered assistance in bag packing. I went in on Friday and 3 assistants stood and watched as i tried to load ice into carrier bags. The bags kept breaking and there was not even a glimmer of recognition or desire to assist. Apart from anything else it was crap for the people behind me in the queue. I am plotting a corrective strategy.
