Well, it's after five and I've not had a drop yet

.
At 12.40 I had just poured the creme de cassis into four glasses and was about to open the fizz and turn on the veg, when my father-in-law, who had been feeling unwell, became much worse suddenly, and was ten minutes later whisked off in an ambulance, along with my partner, to A&E at the RIE. He's just been moved up to the cardiac ward - he's feeling better thanks to the care received there but is considered high risk. Still not sure whether or not he actually had a heart attack, although his symptoms certainly seemed to bear it out. He's also diabetic and his blood sugar had gone crazy.
All in all not the best Christmas, especially for him and for my partner who has spent all afternoon in A&E worrying. The children are puzzled by the sudden disappearance to the hospital of "Pop", and I've spent the afternoon gazing at all the food we no longer have an appetite for.
And just to top it all, it's his birthday today.
Sorry to whinge but I've been dying for a drink for hours now and still can't have one! Have one for me, guys?
