I've always said that I would NEVER go under the knife for purely cosmetic surgery

Every time I watch TV I seem to be bombarded with "extreme makeover" type programmes

The annoying thing is that the "victims" always look fantastic at the end of the treatment and of course the programme makes it look so easy and doesn't show any of the pain and agony that they go through

I still don't think I'd do it but the more lines and wrinkles and crows feet I get, I'm beginning to wonder if I could be swayed

I wonder about this men getting better looking as they get older and women deteriorating theory. Im not sure it still holds.

I organised a school reunion a couple of years ago. My school peers had become 42-43 years old. There was obvioulsy some discussion about who looked best, women or men? The conclusion was that whilst there were exceptions

the women looked better.

BTT: I understand the dilema you find yourself in foxy. I have a male friend who swears that when the time comes he will not hesitate to have cosmetic surgery. (And its not PoP) He feels he has the money and what else can one spend it on? It seems women feel more pressure than men to get CS. In one way i find this surprising as the vast majority of women who have male partners are younger than their partners. If the opposite were true I could perhaps understand better.

What's wrong with staying a woman and getting a man to tell me I'm getting better looking

on second thoughts perhaps not when you consider the way they handle the question "does my bum look big in this"

Lots and lots of other things - me for instance!

Just because Homer is that tad younger than me I'm not going to be rushing to the Botox bottle.....well, not just yet

Interestingly enough I read this week that a Government campaign to recruit more teachers in England has been inundated with complaints after its latest poster extolled folk to join the profession as it 'keeps you younger than most age preventing creams'. Most of the complainants were teachers

I'd like to think I'm growing old fairly gracefully so far

as are most of my family (that must be worth a bunch of flowers Prommy!). One of my Aunties is 80 this year and she looks brilliant (and for being 94 the other one doesn't look too bad either!) A lot of it, I think, is to do with your whole outlook, the way you dress (appropriately for your age not mutton dressed as leopard!) and whether or not you think you are old. All that aside, if things get really bad I would consider CS if it was making me really unhappy (but not the trout pout!).

Have you seen the campaign that Dove are running with "real" women. There has been a bit of controversy about it,. In one poster they are using a 90+ year old woman, not exactly eye candy you may think, the strap line is Wrinkled? Wonderful.

One Wimmin's group or collective, cant remember which one, have come out and said its a cynical campaign and women will never fall for it.

Sales are up 700%.

Get with the times, Mr M - you don't need to become a man to do that, believe me!

I think the grey haired woman on the Dove ads on the buses is just gorgeous. Doesn't make me want to buy aything by Dove though.
As for the cynicism, well, it's a bit of a half hearted campaign, isn't it? sort of an oxymoron. We think real women are beautiful; buy this product to look like them...

Yes, that struck me too, BB.

There's an advert on tv that really gets up my ho-hum ......... the plastic American female saying how she never thought she'd fall in love again, because she's 45 and looked it - but now she looks 30 ...........

Need I say more! (I could say a lot more!!!)
