Pal of Porty-Say a little prayer-Do a little dance

Well the day has finally arrived. My very good friend, Pal of Porty aka Mr Matrix, is going under the knife, as I type. He has waited for almost 3 Years for a potential hip replacement and today is the day.

I'm sure he would want me to make it clear that he has not waited for 3 years because of delays in the NHS. He has waited 3 years because they have been measuring his progress carefully,showing dedication, care and an incredible commitment to getting him completely better. The NHS is marvelous.

PoP is not religious person and he is signifigantly more private than I am but I do think he would like to know that we had been thinking about him. I will be saying a prayer,keeping my fingers crossed and anything else I can think of.

PoP, hope it all goes well. My friend had a hip replacement last year and has really enjoyed the benefits since - no more limping and excessive painkillers!

Hope all goes well for PoP,both during the op and the recovery period.
I know of a couple of others who have just recently had the same procedure.
The first one is making great progress despite having to stay in hospital an extra day due to overdosing himself on the morphine(it is self administered and he got a bit carried away) making himself very sick. Please warn PoP about that one !!

The other,my friends Mum has had problems with her wound and is back in hospital for another ten days,needless to say she is rather fed up. In saying that,this is about her 5th or 6th joint replacement and it's the first time she has had this problem.

And you'd definitely need a double hip replacement after that

Ive not seen him but he has a new Hip and is back in the ward. Phew!

Well, now you'll have to wash out a thermos flask so that you can take him some decent food!!! It is truly awful!

I have been to visit and PoP is as chipper as can be. The op went well, he is no pain (still on morphine) and he is itching to get up and at a pain free life. I told him you were all asking after him and even although he had a slight relapse when I told him some of the hip puns he was very pleased.

He should be in for a week and then approx 6 weeks recuperation. Thanks everyone.
