Neighbourhood Confession Thread
Marya. did you spot Mrs Porty hovering around your house this morning?
We have a confession to make. We (ahem) forgot to put our bucket out on Tuesday. So under the cover of darkness last night Mrs P, pajama clad, sneaked our bucket along and parked it next to yours. The scaffies will be thinking you and Homer have gone over the edge.
So in recent months we have been coveting our neighbours baths and doing dastardly dustbin deeds. Well at least that's our confession over and done with. Anyone else for cleansing?

So that's what the weird banging noises were last night. I was too engrossed in 'Desperate Housewives' to investigate.Porty wrote: under the cover of darkness last night Mrs P, pajama clad, sneaked our bucket along and parked it next to yours.
Shame on you getting Mrs P to do your dirty work!
Homer was going to hold your bucket to ransom - a couple of bottles of red would have secured its safe release - but it had already gone. We've bin used!

a couple of sunday afternoons ago a neighbour of ours chose to tidy up her garden using one of those garden "hoovers" which has an engine obviously based on a Honda 125 motorbike without the silencer.
For over an hour the rugby commentary on the TV was drowned out as she tidied up a few leaves and twigs.
I confess to harbouring very dark thoughts during this time.
ecm only just managed to avert a very nasty incident (which might have involved me launching myself like an exocet across the road and throttling said woman) by tying me to my armchair.

The day after the woman next door to us moved in. She got a Company to come along with one of those things, although I'm sure it must have been based on a Honda 250!! It was 7am on a Saturday morning. Way to go with the neighbourly gestures. As things turned out that was one of the high points, at least so far.
I confess to extremely bad thoughts about what I'd like to have done to my neighbour this morning when his workmen started doing something with, what sounded like, a pneumatic drill on drugs at 8am right underneath my bedroom. And it's not the first time this week.

Enough of your nonsense - get back to the Play Pen!
You got it wrong M, apart from the music. Prior to the rotivator or WTF its called. The same neighbour knocked a hole through the wall to my house. We could see clearly into the house and hear them talking. Even although she had workmen on site every day it took her six weeks to fix it.Marya wrote:Living next door to an inconsiderate neighbour must be awful. I was told recently of one who played his music really loud and even knocked a hole in their neighbour's wall. Shocking behaviour really. BTW Is the house next door to you still up for sale Porty?
Ah! A salutary lesson in why you shouldn't listen to gossipPorty wrote:You got it wrong M, apart from the music. Prior to the rotivator or WTF its called. I have the whiniest little man as a neighbour, he’s in his 40's, always tells the neighbourhood how hard done to he is, makes constant noise and informed my wife, the first time he met her, that his wife and him divorced 3 years ago after 8 years of marriage and he was annoyed because they didn’t consummate the marriage, then he proceeded to cry and mentioned because I didn’t have Jesus in my heart and pray everyday that I wouldn't be wanted in heaven! Good first impression. Huh! I'm so looking forward to moving!

We dream of being woken up by something as civilised as a security alarm, Jamesie!Jamesie wrote:Sure ali & ecm will also have experienced the near-nightly security alarm at the Unionist Club on Windsor Place going off at something like 5am for about the past week - I've stopped setting my alarm its that frequent!
We're right next to the post office depot so from about 5.00am each morning we have to contend with motors running, doors slamming, metal trolleys being banged about the place and, not least of all, the foul mouths of the employees as they shout their way through their shift.
Confession from some moons ago.
My sister and I were in my kitchen and had become somewhat peed off at the amount of grafitti that certain youths were openly drawing on the wall at the side of the antique shop at the top of Marlborough Street..so... we filled up several water bombs, turned our lights off and started pelting them out the window. I managed to get my first one to hit the back of the boy's neck who had his back to us and was busy writing his masterpiece on the wall
Great satisfaction, gave us a laugh...and, funnily enough, they left rather quickly

When I first moved into my flat 2 years ago I arranged for a company to come and sand my floors at 8 o'clock on a Sunday morning. Not a good start to healthy neighbourly relations. I managed to follow that up in spectacular fashion when the workers varnished themselves out of the flat leaving their radio on full blast in the bedroom and couldn't get in for 24 hours to turn it off. Luckily I was staying elsewhere while the work was being done but it took a couple of bottles of wine to placate the neighbours.
Say something once, why say it again?
