Ethical meat for vegetarians / Ethical dairy for vegans
Ethical meat for vegetarians / Ethical dairy for vegans
So, a poser for the animal product avoiders.
If the only thing vegans are objecting to is the cruelty aspect (ie animals held in captivity, fish caught etc), is there a problem in them consuming eggs found in the wild and (say) cheese made from surplus milk that we were going to chuck out?
And in the case of vegetarians, could they not eat meat which had died of natural causes? (And in the case of vegans, fish which had washed up on shore).
Given a big enough herd of chickens, there would always be ones dying - so could you not market a range of ultra-expensive (and probably quite gamey-tasting) ethical meat for vegetarians? It would have a big disclaimer on it as the animal would have died either from disease, roadkill, or old age. But it wouldn't have been batteried or its head cut off.
The one group I wouldn't dare poke fun at in this manner are the macrobiotic fruitarians. They only eat vegetables in season, and windfall fruit. That is so hardcore it demands respect.

So say you are a meat eater (as indeed most in this hemisphere are)
How do you decide which animals to eat?
Ones bred specially for the purpose?
Ones that die accidently?
Ones that you dont know?
Ones that you do know?
or all of them as they all use up such vast grain and fodder resources to fatten them up that you ought to make the most of them anyway?
and anyway it's an animal. it's not like it's a friend or anything.
or a reincarnated friend...
