By all accounts, caused by power surges.

According to Sky news, a bus has also had an explosion.

ITV news is now saying that it was a bomb on the bus.
The tube is thought to have been power surges but there are reports that two trains also collided.

Been listening to the radio and it is being stated now that there have been 3 explosions on buses and 3 elsewhere (presumably the tube). At least one of the buses was said to be an open top tourist bus and that there have been a number of casualties.

From the sound of it now, it seems more and more likely that it has been a planned terrorist attack as opposed to a series of power surges on the tube.

All tube services have closed and any trains going to London have been cancelled and are returning to their departing station.

Tony Blair is due to make comment at noon today.

A helpline is due to be set up shortly and I will post the number when I can find it. BBC website has been flooded and has been alternating between working and not working. Vodaphone have said that their network in that area is full to capacity so if anyone has friends or relatives down there and you can't get in contact then this is most likely the cause.

looks to have been viciously coordinated too - paralyse the tube network and then blow up the buses full of people that couldn't get into the tube.

Tony Blair has just provided his statement, he has stated that it has almost certainly been a terrorist attack and that he is leaving to go to London to speak face to face with the police commisoner in the next few hours and he will return to the summit later this evening. The others are going to continue with their meeting (not sure if he is leaving someone in his place or if he has already made his stance clear or not).

There now seems to have been 7 confirmed explosions.

Sky and BBC are still intermittently down.

Heard from a friend today, that Scottish Policemen were sent down to London
a couple of day's ago, because something big was going down. My Friend heard it from an elderly person in Porty, whose son was one of the police officers sent.

Well a lot of the Met are up here just now for all the G8 business (they stand out in some of my pics). No doubt police will be sent south today.

There's a strong police presence at Edinburgh airport at the moment. Mr TG is working on the new control tower just now and there's a couple of officers at the top with binoculars scanning the whole area.

At the moment there are 33 confirmed dead although this isn't taking into account the number of people that were on the bus. Around 1000 people have been injured but many of them aren't seriously hurt.

Looking on Sky news it seems likely that there will now be a push for ID cards and Detention without trial. I can't imagine however that you would need to present an ID card to get on the tube or a bus so I have no idea how they would help, however the scare factor provided today might alter many people's minds.
