Great looking site. I like the pull down menus at the top of the page. Interesting also to note that he went down the business route to secure funding.

I agree that the Caithness site is extremely good and it is supported by advertising such as Amazon as well as local businesses. It is also intereting to note that it is operated by someone who is self employed in internet services. (As well as being a councillor - hey, come on Lawrence).
Is there a hint in here of what Bob's big announcement is going to be?

I remember Avril Fernie! There were only three Avril's in the school and we were two of themBob Jefferson wrote:Avril Duncan (nee Fernie) who now lives in Stornoway and is a music teacher. I will let them all know about the site - we are all in touch by the glorious email as well as by phone.
And is it really almost a year since we took on that onerous task?????
Enough of your nonsense - get back to the Play Pen!
Just had a look at the Caithness site. Interesting to see what other people are up to but I have to say, we definitely have the edge, both for the lovely photos and colourful headings and for our sense of humour
Although, I did like the Muddy Clothes thread - was it a joke?

That's what I meant about going 'down the business route'. He said that he had a choice of trying to get grant funding for a site that had 'run out of volunteers' after the first year or running it as his own small business along with his son.Hawkeye wrote:It is also intereting to note that it is operated by someone who is self employed in internet services.
Just thought that it meant that POL was doing pretty well to actually be increasing the number of folk involved ( while also managing to hang on to the vital input of old hands such as XXXX and Wangi) rather than waning.

I don't think we are quite in the same league as caithness.org, but we must be doing something right:
