here's what I've done today :

1. sorted out a mailing address for demo tapes etc, also put an email address on the site

2. blown some more cash increasing our maximum users to 32, just for this month

3. added Bob to the roster

4. changed the playlist so it's 2 sets from everyone in rotation (jackson, don't worry - i will be getting to priest 3 and priest 4 in due course

Thanks for the donations and pledges thus far. DJ Pace (another Mac user - grr) is being photographed as we speak. Cripes!

I don't think the playlist will be of much help to you because the order is all wrong.

But I'm sure you can work it out.

Marya - your show already gets my approval as it contains a Rezillos track, but I'm also a huge fan of the Big 'O' and 'Pretty Woman' is one of the first records I remember hearing that really moved me. That intro really grabs your attention. And 'Alternative Ulster' - classic!

Have just seen Radio Free Porty article in EN - can't get link yet and I am about to swipe back in on flexi-system, but have to share this bit with y'all - Cllr Marshall is a bit sniffy about POL ... says the "discussion forums are little more than gossip and tittle-tattle"!

Poppy - many thanks for what you put through my door. I also loved your quote that if you come round to Dada Towers you get "Art, Fart, Fleas and Disease". I think I'm going to get one of those nice wooden house-name plaques made up with that on it!!!

I see that Councillor Marshall is still a little bitter and twisted about getting outed as a yob when he wrote to The Herald earlier this year whining about TV critic Ian Bell's perfectly vailid observations about establishment bootlicker David Frost.

I'm so frustrated that I can't hear the station as yet. Hopefully, I will get the PC wired sooner rather than later.

The EN article is so good. Well done to Bob for keeping his feet on the ground: A TV STATION!! Portobello is def on the map.

A question for DJ Dada; you say you have increased the potential users to 32 but it costs more to do so. I presume this is capacity driven. What is the scale of usage and the appropriate costs?

Also, who is covering these costs at the moment?

I envisage the current user peak to die down - I just didn't want there to be a bunch of people that couldn't connect while the EN article was current. As I took this decision on a whim yesterday, I paid for it myself. We'll have the increased capacity for a month.

Every little helps. Once I've got in the amounts pledged thus far and any other monies that people want to contribute, I'll pay for a year's hosting for us at the 80kbps/10 users rate (8 pounds/month).

With that foundation we can increase the stream per-event if we think it's necessary - ie "Pal Of Porty does Elvis - LIVE" would obviously need an extra couple of streams.

In terms of monies from POL, I think the arrangement between me and bob when we inaugurated Radio Free Porty over a glass of moderator's brew was that the LBD was going to pay the domain registry fee, which was Â£20 ($35 to be exact). Back then we didn't know, or at least hadn't gone into great depth, about the commercial shoutcast server stuff.

I'd rather not take RBOS money - hehehe
