Can you clarify that we're having an Evening meal this time Sandra?

The 2nd sounds good for me too.

The 2nd... :( I had assumed (I don't know why) that we'd be looking for a Saturday, not a Friday. I can do the 2nd but I have a full day at college the following day, 9-6, so will have to be very restrained and home at a decent hour.

I assume if we're looking at a Friday that we're definitely on for an evening rather than lunch? Evening does suit me better.
All I really need is love, but a little chocolate now and then doesn't hurt!

I would say that it would have to be an evening meal as its a Friday.

It would be good to book it very soon as we are now into October, so where is it to be?

Here's the Sheep's Heid Xmas menu:
Soup of the Day (v)
or
Scottish Salmon Gravadlax

Roast Turkey with all the Festive Trimmings
or
Pan-fried Salmon Fillet on a bed of Mashed Potato & Steamed Spinach
or
A Roasted Shallot & Goat's Cheese Tart with Seasonal Vegetables (v)

Christmas Pudding with a Brandy Cream
or
Rich Chocolate Fudge Cake & Ice Cream

With Tea or Coffee & a Mince Pie to Follow

Price - £15:95

Skittles - 2 laned skittle alley - £40 for the night but already booked from 7pm (check this) on 2 December. An extra £20 if you want to hire the child skittle replacers.
Menu doesn't sound particularly exciting to be honest, but it's Xmas after all so perhaps we shouldn't expect much.

Bonoful menu to follow.

How about this? I didn't know James Thomson had bought over Prestonfield House but his Rhubarb restaurant sounds the biz. I used to be a regular at the Witchery at one time, in the days when I still had a disposable income. Lunch is a steal at that price though, and if it's good enough for Shirley Manson and Joan Collins...

The 2nd sounds good to me too. I'm more inclined to go for the Bonoful and it's not because of the smoking, as Bonoful is non-smoking too.

I just love their food and reckon it'll be better value for money than the Sheepie's Xmas menu. It's just the thought of tramping out into the cold to find a place to drink after we're done there that's a bit off-putting.

I'm a wimp.

It sounds lovely. We'd have to dress up a bit to go there though.

And behave ourselves.

Re scrubbing up - I've yet to forgive Portly for telling me I scrubbed up well at a "posh" do at the Rugby Club several years ago.

So go VERY carefully, Mr Jefferson, as Ecm is as unforgiving as I am!!! But I agree with you about the latter point. She actually does not know what the word "behave" means!!

I have read very mixed reviews about Prestonfield's Food mainly expensive and disappointing. Never been though.

Did you know the Politican of the Year award is not being held at Prestofield this year, wonder why

Duck Jaalsha - cooked in yogurt, green chillies, green pepper, mixed spice and fresh coriander. Slightly hot dish.

Murgh Masala - tandoori chicken cooked with mince meat, garnished with green pepper, tomatoes and coriander in medium sauce.

As a lifetime (well, 2 week or summat like that  ) member of the Sheep Heid Party, I have to register my disappointment at the Party Manifesto launched recently. To my mind, it is nothing but tired retreads of policies already shown to be wanting. (and they won't let me play skittles  )

It is therefore, with great regret, that I tender my resignation from the Sheep Heid Party and announce my defection to the new, dynamic Bonoful Party, a party who're forward looking and not afraid to champion new ideas. This could be the start of a wonderful relationship :D

It's certainly imaginative, isn't it? I don't think I can ever remember seeing duck on an Indian menu and certainly not venison, or 'deer meat' as it's described on the menu.

What I do feel is that they have at least made the effort. Soup of the flipping day? A bed of Smash? Give me a break!

Right, as Party season is getting closer this poll will be closed at Midnight tomorrow.

I'll let you know on Saturday the venue with the most votes and you can let me know if you are free to attend on 2nd December so I can book a table.

Do you think they mean reindeer meat? That would be a nice festive touch.

There is nothing more festive than a curry. Go Bonoful - and have a spicy Xmas.

Sorry, been absent for a few days. Computer had a relapse but after major invasive surgery is now hopefully on the mend! Dates and venue are fine for me Sandra so count me in. The Bonoful menu looks brilliant - I could eat it right now :D

As you've guessed Bonoful is the winner.

Names please (I've got you down Epykat, is Mr Epykat also coming?)

Does 2nd December at 7.30pm suit everyone? Will book once I've got numbers (and will let you know if a deposit is required).

I will book a skittles session in the new year if you are interested.

Count me in. The menu for the Sheep Heid finally arrived this morning (I'd given up and collected one myself in the interim) along with booking details for the skittles.

Basket suppers from this 'award winning food' establishment include a variety of burgers as well as that old favourite, chicken nuggets. (Wot! No Turkey Twizzlers?)

If you would prefer a 'buffet' there is a narrow range of crisps, peanuts and cheese puffs. If you are prepared to stretch to £4:95 they will bung in 'stuffed vol au vents'. However, prior notice is required - presumably so they have time to nip down to the cash 'n' carry.
