As the National Demonstration lacks a title or specific purpose. I thought it must be the march of unconnected causes. A sort of "We want to have a demonstration, the last thing we need is a very poor turnout, we can't think of a single cause that shall bring people out in decent numbers. What should we do?"
My suggestion was not serious but it is a popular cause here in Scotland and may have helped bolster numbers. Having said that, if the demonstration is UK national, my suggestion is not such a good idea.
That's the last time I try to help, it just gets thrown back in my face.

W would have no problem finding a link. Bet he could drum up a connection with the England football team too, if it suited his purpose.Dadaist wrote:They have plenty of conscience though. When one chastises a neighbour for their lack of imagination in front of an audience, it could be argued that a display of said trait would be expected to be forthcoming presently, lest the original insult be viewed as hollow or baseless. In this instance, you have showed about as much Imagination as a cup of Hot Chocolate.Porty wrote:W would have no problem finding a link. This "not-linking" business is getting out of hand. WTF are you going on about?Dadaist wrote:Porty wrote: When one chastises a neighbour for their lack of imagination in front of an audience, it could be argued that a display of said trait would be expected to be forthcoming presently, lest the original insult be viewed as hollow or baseless. BTW Gemini knows she can count on me to keep her "cause" topics to the fore. We are comrades in arms.
Now i get it. You mean that people like dc and gemini critiscise Blair policies before they even fully understand them let alone give them a chance. It is of little value.Dadaist wrote:If Mark Kermode repeatedly reviewed movies with one word as either "bad" or "good" then his criticism would have little value, even when they came from the perspective of somebody who loves film. If somebody who hated all movies did the same thing, it would be laughable.
No, I meant that even Brian McCrow bothers to flesh out his arguments, even if the meat turns out to be Turkey-Twizzler grade.Porty wrote:Now i get it. Far from being appeasers, I think you'll find that the political generation of that time who are closest to those you are unsubtly denigrating were busy dying in Spain in the cause of, er, democracy - while as per usual the great powers looked the other way in the cause of "non-intervention". Being opposed to the fundamentalist nutters who are in charge of the White House does not make one an appeaser.General Tactifer wrote:How about commemorating the death of Neville Chamberlain (9 November 1940)Porty wrote:Only 4 Cause, do you need some more to bolster attendance?
How about adding anti-the english football team?
You people have no imagination.
I'll certainly commemorate the death of a half-decent argument from the pro-war crowd - although by that analogy your comment is positively ectopic.
Eh? I am not even having an argument, at least on this thread. If I were, I am astonished at your suggestion that I do not flesh out my arguments.Dadaist wrote:No, I meant that even Brian McCrow bothers to flesh out his arguments, even if the meat turns out to be Turkey-Twizzler grade.
BTW I must congratulate Gem on the punchy thread title, it really stirs the blood and makes one want to march in demonstration. Its the "If Anyone is Interested" National Demonstration.
Do they really mean anyone?
You didn't bother with this one. You just cut straight to the abuse.Porty wrote:Eh? I am not even having an argument, at least on this thread. Your irony is getting rusty.BTW I must congratulate Gem on the punchy thread title, it really stirs the blood and makes one want to march in demonstration.
Anyone with the backbone to be prepared to have insults slung at them about how they sympathise with terrorists and appease dictators. Its the "If Anyone is Interested" National Demonstration.

As far as I am concerned, Jack Straw can turn up if he wants, as it means that the police spotters will have one more person to add to the number that they manipulate.Porty wrote:So not anyone?Dadaist wrote:Anyone with the backbone to be prepared to have insults slung at them about how they sympathise with terrorists and appease dictators.
One does not necessarily suffer from a persecution complex (not that I am accusing you of accusing me of having one) in order to state the commonly held belief that demonstration numbers are a highly political estimate, and are most defintely prone to being massaged.Porty wrote:How's the home brew persecution complex coming along?Dadaist wrote:As far as I am concerned, Jack Straw can turn up if he wants, as it means that the police spotters will have one more person to add to the number that they manipulate.
(Pssst: have you peeked on Pbay?)
