New attempt at world record

Post by administrator » 27 Jul 2004, 20:22

How about one more go at breaking that record for the number of forum users online? I know a number of you have said that you would have participated if you had been given more notice, and Joyce at the library has asked that we hold it on Sunday to celebrate the weekend opening of Portobello Library.

I'm not going to mass email this time, because I really do think that people get fed up with that kind of thing and in any case I think the forum is busy enough, so hopefully most people should see this message.

everyone online on Sunday 1 August at 7pm

I would like to invite Dadaist to select a topic for discussion for this occasion and the thread will then be locked until the appointed hour.

So what happened was that I was sent some photos of the bellydancing extravaganza today and I was busy messing around with them and erm I forgot the time. Can we start the topic?

Dadaist, that sounds absolutely thrilling. How do you put it down?

Marya is not around but is with us in spirit and asked that on her behaldf we mention To Kill a Mockingbird. It's a sin, that, you know.

I can't stay much longer - i need some food! Going to faint after all that - what was it - snakey hips etc (see other thread)... How long are we locked in for?!
All I really need is love, but a little chocolate now and then doesn't hurt!

My book for a Desert Island would have to be " Raft building for beginners" or "How to build your own still".

Oh, hey that's unfair. I was just trying to sort out some snakey-hipped bejewelled princesses for your delectation, that's all!

ecm - I second that slap!

Mind you, there's a few folk at That place who should have a look at that book. Or maybe they have and it's as useless as all the others!?

Back to the subject. I think I would need something that would sustain me for the many months and years I might be there. I would have to take a really big dictionary, and a really big crossword compendium. Oh, and a copy of 1984 of course.

Poppy we must be about the only members of about 1300 staff that aren't involved in Project management.
You're a bit of a reader aren't you - what about your book choices then?

Garth Nix is the way to go now. Very disappointed that he's not at the book festival this year.
