Drat! And double drat!

The Priest Family missed "Spongies" and "Knitties" again today, and Baby Priestlette is most upset (her favourites are Smop and Scump - because they're pink I think).

Can you update us on what happened today, please Dadaist?

Today on the Spongies, the Spongies sang the Spongy Song.

"Spongies sing the Spongy Song, Spongy Song, Spongy Song;
Spongies sing the Spongy Song, Spongy Spongy Song."

Then, they sang it again.

Today on the Knitties, the Knitties sang the Knitty Song.

"Knitties sing the Knitty Song, Knitty Song, Knitty Song;
Knitties sing the Knitty Song, Knitty Knitty Song."

Then, they sang it again.

Sounds fab! And, obviously, not too late to catch up with the plot.

This could help wean me off my Lost addiction. 8)

My daughter's favourite baby book was about Kipper who had a toy called "sock thing". I'm now wondering if "sock thing" was related to the Knitties :?

COC's favourite book was "Bad Woof Book" (Little Red Riding Hood to lesser beings). Telly at that time consisted of Sesame Street (Big Bird....brill) and He-Man and She-ra. She used to hide her eyes when Skeletor came on (so did I  ) Nothing so tame as Knitties
Enough of your nonsense - get back to the Play Pen!

We all sang the Spongy song in the bath tonight. It was a bit cramped though, so we got out. Baby Priest prefers the Spongy Song to the Knitty Song.

I hope we don't miss the Spongies and the Knitties tomorrow.

Today on the Spongies, Old Loofah took the Spongies in the Spongycopter to Joppa Salt Pans where they learnt about salt.

Today on the Knitties, Pearl took the Knitties in the Knittybus to
Seafield dump where they learnt about rubbish and how to constantly
recycle it.

Marya, don't make the stupid mistake I did. They were all sold out last night in John Lewis, and there was a scrum of Ikea-esque proportions, so I bought cheap imitations from a man standing outside Debenhams with a large checked bag.

By the time I had got home, Tambo's head had fallen off, to reveal a large rusty nail... It's ok though, we just put some blu-tac on the sharp end, and it's safe to play with now.

Baby Priest wants a Spongycopter and a big bag of salt for christmas now, after this morning's brilliant episode.

The production team would like to apologise for this morning's episode of "Spongies" entitled "It's your Birthday - stick stuff together!!" where some viewers have complained about our presenter's rather erratic style during the segments "Parrots go Squawk" and "If it's your birthday, Make Some Noise".

We also apologise for the unfortunate incident which led to Flimpy and Smop becoming glued to each other, and would like to assure viewers that, by approximately 9.30am on Monday, these Spongies will be looking as good as new.

I don't think I've ever seen Sarah Jane looking quite so manic... Was it the thought of innocent babes being attacked by rusty nails in their spongies and knitties, do you think?

The management team of your local friendly community children's channel have today issued a statement denying that there are any financial difficulties at the channel, and state that programming will continue as normal. "Programming will continue as normal" quoted an insider.

Today on the Knitties, the Knitties went to Woodwares (Mica) at the top of Marlborough street, where they perused a fantastic selection of affordable products for the home - including gardening, painting and cleaning products. They bought some competitively priced mothballs.

Today on the Spongies, the Spongies went to the Mica hardware store on Portobello High Street (just along from Regent Street) where they browsed a fantastic selection of DIY and electrical products, eventually finding that Vanish soap was a bargain.

Why, one of the friendly and knwledgable staff of this convenient local enterprise assisted them ably, enhancing their shopping experience and providing the kind of service that makes Mica/Woodwares their first stop for all DIY, gardening, home and electrical needs in Portobello.

Forgot to mention this yesterday...

When we watched pbeebies, Baby Priest noticed a bit of blue sponge on Smop the pink sponge, and a bit of pink sponge on Flimpy the blue sponge.

She then proceeded to explain the process of osmosis to me.

It really does show pbeebies in its truly educational light.

JP have you turned into a young John Alderton? or are you perhaps my young nephew Craig who has cunningly grown a moustache without me realising

Hello Foxy

He does look a bit John Alderton-ish now you mention it.

It's Lee Hazlewood, writer of tunes such as These Boots Are Made For Walking, and deep-voiced singing pardner of Nancy Sinatra.

Is your nephew Craig's tache one of those bum-fluff affairs, or is it a full-on bandito? I'd go for the latter look myself, but I would be forced to leave home if I did.

Yes it's bum-fluff...don't think the bandito look is big amongst 16 year olds these day. Was it ever?

Sounds like Mrs JP has the same view of moustaches as i do...definitely grounds for divorce IMO

You think that's bad? The private messaging thread is now about boy's war comics.

It's nice to go with flow though, imo.

What's the weekend schedule for pbeebies favourites The Spongies and The Knitties then? And will it involve more shameless plugging of their sponsors Mica Hardwares?

pbeebies is a community channel and anybody who suggests that we would allow product placement or subliminal advertising, especially on a children's programme, is obviously an Enemy of the Community and will be hearing from our local solicitors shortly - this firm also offer conveyancing services and are conveniently located close to the centre of Portobello.

Alternatively, we might just buy a pair of pliers and a blowtorch from Mica hardware store (conveniently located on the 26 bus route in central Portobello) and get medieval on your assets.

The Pbeebies Outside Broadcast Unit are still recovering from a rather traumatic experience on Saturday where they visited "Brewster's" soft play centre for a so-called "Birthday Party".

They witnessed :

1. a tactical unit of 5 and 6 year-old boys pelting all and sundry with the vaguely urine-smelling balls from the ball pit

2. the harsh tannoy announcement of "food" which called the ravenous horde from the enclosed secure playfight area to the foodfight area

3. 14 tots hanging off a "magic roundabout" ride designed for 2

4. competent and practical-minded mothers taking a "hands-off" approach to the scrum, and very much leaving event security in the hands of the on-site staff.

5. Brewster bear being almost knocked over by the now-fed tots all wanting "a cuddle"

It is rumoured that a small amount of footage survives from this incident - once it is released by CID it may be posted, although the camera operator's hand may have been a bit shaky.

Oh lord. Is this what happens?

Think I am going to educate Baby Priest at home.

Imagine the cocktail of disease in those ball pit things.
