Bright Spark Advice needed

I am after some electrical advice if anyone can help.

My light in my bathroom blew the other day and with it went the livingroom light, hall light and Jack's bedroom light. I presumed it was the fuse so I checked the box and there were 2 x 5A bits for the fuses to be replaced. Unsure which was actually bust, I replaced both and still nothing. I even swap the fuses round in the holders, the holders round in the slots and even upside down.

Its like something else is bust on that circuit that changing a fuse doesnt help with. Can anyone advise?

Get a qualified electrician to check your wiring and ensure everything is safe.

Do you not have a trip switch, when a bulb blows in my kitchen it takes the rest of the lights in the house with it. one flick of the trip switch and we have light again.

Me too, but I think that just means we've got more up to date fuseboxes! In which case, I reckon Ed may need to update his electrics!!

Yeah if you haven't got a fuse box with trip switches then you seriously do need an update/rewire what ever.

No trips, just little slots that hold fuses and fuse wire. I was told last year by an electrician that it was ok and was working fine, didn't need to upgrade it for just the sake of it but now I think I might need to!

Any good sparks anyone can recommend?

Got it resolved over the weekend, thanks for the suggestion. I got Willie Wee Eyes to look at it and it turned out that the fitting in the bathroom was causing it to short out the new fuses even when I put them in.

He happilly took out the old fitting, fitted the new one and using a fuse from my Birthday Coffee Machine we got the lights on again.

All in exchange for a Bottle of Morgan's

Well, he had also got me a referral for a website as well but thats what mates are for!

Glad you got it sorted. BTW he is no longer referred to as Willie Wee Eyes he is now Foghorn Leghorn.

Quite a helpful chap, indeed he gave PoP, PoPPP and myself a lift up town on Saturday too.
