Can I still come to the Xmas party?
I have upset a lot of people over my "robust" critique of those who condone torture.
I love POL and respect the right of all of us to hold our own views.
I promise to abide by the decision of this poll.

If you're hoping or fearing a big fight on the 2nd December I have to warn you that one of many highlights of the gathering at the Dalriada in September was meeting Mr D. He was rather bashful about admitting who he was (bashful was not a word I would have formerly attributed to him)
and I was a little taken aback and dare I say even disappointed by how affable and friendly he was. And on line disagreements seemed to be put to one side or not taken too seriously in the real world.

Say something once, why say it again?

as long as i can have some of that ersatz aerosol cream on it, i'm more than happy to eat humble pie in public. i'd rather eat humble pie than have somebody slap pie in my face, flan-flinger style.Porty wrote:It would be absurd for you not to attend. You are a vital member of POL and like many of us appear nothing like our internet persona. I mean you can be quite funny on POL![]()
Do think you should be having humble pie for starter, main course and dessert tho. I may have a slice myself.
Not every time. Inside brandy snaps surely you'd want double cream and icing sugar?rathbone wrote:Mrs. R. and I were once in cafe in Ullapool where the waitress asked if we wanted " real cream or skooshy cream". -- give me skooshy cream every time.Dadaist wrote: as long as i can have some of that ersatz aerosol cream on it.
You've had me made from the start. My favourite though has to be the lovely Mrs PoP who took one look at me and said "are you that Dado rail - you're just taking the mick aren't you?"Epykat wrote:Dadaist has to come to the party because, well, he's Dadaist and although we all know he's a plonker he makes the rest of us look like total paragons of virtue
Dada, how could I ever vote against you?..... you're the only person who has ever professed their love for me on-lineDadaist wrote: OK OK - I know we disagree on cream and everything, but did you feel so strongly you voted that I don't get my Xmas curry?
I have nothing to say and I'm going to say it.
I withdraw my accusation, and re-affirm my (platonic) love.rathbone wrote:Dada, how could I ever vote against you?..... you're the only person who has ever professed their love for me on-lineDadaist wrote: OK OK - I know we disagree on cream and everything, but did you feel so strongly you voted that I don't get my Xmas curry?(even if it was just for liking the Aphex Twin)
Do you like any of Aphex's coterie -> u-ziq, wagon christ, squarepusher ?
Nice one, Mrs PoP.My favourite though has to be the lovely Mrs PoP who took one look at me and said "are you that Dado rail - you're just taking the mick aren't you?"
You should hear what she called POLers in general on Saturday at a party - it would not get past the profanity filter.
(She excused me from the generality, but was probably only being polite!!)
Brace yourself Jason.rathbone wrote:I've never really been able to get into Luke Vibert, but I do like a bit of Lunatic Harness on a Saturday night.Dadaist wrote: Do you like any of Aphex's coterie -> u-ziq, wagon christ, squarepusher ?
Luke Vibert is the incarnation of Jesus. His second album, "Throbbing Pouch" is a landmark, but he has done some stellar stuff since.
Ask Jackson Priest - he likes a LV album done under the pseudonym of Plug.
But yeah, cannae beat a bit of u-ziq.

Well within my criteria of being described as "posh". The one with Tia Maria is "posh" and the one with Courvoisier is "well posh".Including skooshy cream with Courvoisier and with some other liqueur like Tia Maria!!
I love it when hip hop expropriates a brand - simultaneously bringing it down to street level but also sending its sales through the roof. YOu can just picture the board meetings where they have the dilema of the odd letter from Mr Fotheringham complaining that Fiddy Cent is bigging up his brand, but the realization that they have a whole new market to exploit.
Hennesy, Courvoisier and VSOP are such brands - certainly cognac is now your bling drink of choice - so it's simultaneously being punted to toffs in Harpers & Queen and also to da pimpin massif.
sittin in my 'lac with my 'nac
SCOTMID STORIES
Maybe in the lead up to Christmas, with an influx of fancy products, we'll get some new stories for the long running Scotmid / mad thread for the forum. They make me laugh. Remember the ones about the gazebo in the summer? tee hee

What a silly question. Of course you should come to the christmas curry, you evil and nasty man.
JP.
He do indeed. Drum And Bass For Papa is its name, and it's up there in my Top 14. It's required listening in the Priest household - well, unless you're Baby Priest or Mrs Priest, that is.Dadaist wrote:Ask Jackson Priest - he likes a LV album done under the pseudonym of Plug.
