What kind of whisky anyway? I like Glenmorangie, Glenfiddich (any age/expression will be fine), Ardbeg and the other Islays.

Dadaist likes the blends.

Now send the chocolate.

....just don't hum it - unless you have permission from his dad (who shot him if I remember correctly), his label and most importantly his publisher, who retains the rights to the tune. I think.

I have a nasty feeling I'm going to have to shave off a percentage of the chocolate and send it to the PRS - after all, it constitutes revenue to RFP as I might gain a few lbs. Geddit.

new music!! new audio!! 100% homegrown and/or freely licensed works so listen without guilt or fear!!

1. The very first spoken word work on RFP, by none other than our resident bard Rathbone.

2. Some intriguingly titled work brought to us very kindly by wangi

I am still processing these works but they will be appearing on the playlist this evening - watch this space as we tell Elton John to stick his candle in his wind pipe and get busy with the free music down at RFP .....

Can't get the RFP homepage to load Dada. :( I'm wanting to get contact details for JP's BIL.

PS
Are you sure '2000 light years from home' is copyright free? :?
Or indeed any of the other tracks I've been listening to for the last 10 mins.
What gives?

What gives is that my computer at home has exploded. I was moving the desk/pc/wires and my pc fell over - my hard drive and windows install are catastrophically damaged.

RFP is now broadcasting from hotlemons2 (which is my laptop), the new ip address hasn't propagated yet and the music is all from October, before we were legal!!!

The page is at http://82.41.245.75/radio/ although the new temporary home for radiofreeporty.org should update across the planet shortly.

Cue irate post from ali !!!

Oh dear! Sounds serious and here was me optimistically thinking that Xmas had come early in the shape of a cheapo licence.

Nah, Xmas comes early for me in the shape of the spanky new Dell which arrives at Dada Towers on Wednesday.

MCPS dudes - if you're reading this - normal legal service will resume as soon as possible.

In case you haven't seen it yet, there is a piece in the current issue of the Portobello Reporter on RFP which should hopefully generate some extra listeners. Hope to have the online version up by the end of the week.

I should add that in my original article I referred to you as 'station supremo' as opposed to 'station supreme', which makes you sound like a Vesta meal - cheap, dry and indigestible.

i would say i was exactly like that, as long as it's the vesta curry that has those strange curly things with it as well as the curry & rice

Happy New Year from RFP!!

We've had 500 visitors over the holidays (well, 496 in 37 days)!!

We're now playing on "shuffle" mode as there are 9 albums on the playlist now, including 4 new ones *hand picked and sourced* by AmericanaOK.

AOK, I would like to thank you for sticking by the station through all sorts of weather. I owe you a bourbon.

For this latest update, AOK has provided us with artists from Canada, Sweden, the US and Scotland - sometimes having to obtain specific permission from the artists themselves - and always hand delivering his goods to our Elm Row address - this man is truly a star.

Check out the station and have a listen for that peacful easy feelin, y'all.

** New from Radio Free Porty **

It's been a while since our last update, but RFP are back with plenty of new audio for your listening pleasure :

Music :

Bob presents a selection of homespun niceties in the form of 4 complete albums from Netherbow, Jenny Gardner, Absent Friends and the Burns & Rivers project.

Audio :

Rathbone continues to read his original work of Scottish crime fiction "Kincaid" with parts 5 and 6 of Steven's story now on our downloads page and podcast.

We hope you enjoy listening as much as we have enjoyed bringing you these fine selections of original material - it's what the internet is for!!

edit -> had completely missed out Jenny Gardner's album - sorry!

The broadcast schedule also includes Jenny Gardner's (Belle Stars) very lovely solo album, 'Cho Chuk' though I haven't heard a track from it yet on the random play?
Back in the late 1980s a stylish young fiddler breezed into Scotland from Bermuda and caught everyone’s attention. Jenny Gardner has been seen jamming in Mediterranean caves, busking in Spain and fiddling up a New Zealand mountain. She’s played in rootsy Shetland band Rock, Salt and Nails, with Cuban/Caledonian Salsa Celtica, and with all-woman band The Poozies - but this beguiling dreamscape is her first solo album. The tunes are nearly all her own , and the cello, viola, bass, banjo, didjeridoo, mandolin and percussion are played by pals from Shooglenifty, Mr McFall’s Chamber and Scotland’s alternative music scene.

NORMAN CHALMERS
Absent Friends features a friend from Adelphi Place on drums, while Netherbow is a folksy prog-rock band he also played in, back in the 70s maan.

There's a Porty connection with the Burns & Rivers project as well - Bath Street from memory.

My mistake, fixed now. I had encoded, tagged and scheduled Jenny's album in my imagination but failed to do it in real life.
