Radio Free Porty - 100% Legal!!

Radio Free Porty is now 100% legal. Our new playlist may be small, and our website emptyish, but our spirit is unbroken.

To those of you who wanted us to be Radio 1, my apologies.

To any of you with a spare 1600 smackers - you can sponsor us if you like (no banks please) as this is the extortionate amount that the copyright police think we should cough up to enjoy art together.

To those of you who would like to help build a community web radio presence, you are come home.

Hello from RFP to our new friends working in the field of copyright law - be they in Scotland or Elsewhere, and to station mascot Lawrence "tittle tattle" Marshall. You have our consent and permission to listen to and enjoy our output which is, as the station is titled, free.

Any news on the proposed MCPS licence to address the needs of small, income free web stations like RFP? I thought they said something about introducing it in January?
I have nothing to say and I'm going to say it.

LeithFM gets 5 year licence

LeithFM was today awarded a five year community broadcast licence. See OFCOM for details.

It's too early to say yet but LeithFM will be available on 87.7 to all those in Leith and North Edinburg - may not reach sunny Portobello though! No problem you're all welcome in Leith 8)

Walk the Line

On the subject of Walk the Line - tried to see it on Monday at Ocean Terminal only to find they were not showing it! What a disgrace! No worries I'm sure I'll get to see it soon 8)

There's not many movies that Mrs Dadaist and I agree on wanting to see together - and certainly not musicals - but this one transcends boundaries.

He's the man.

I subscribe to a few podcasts, and one of the great ones is Mark Kermode's film reviews from 5 Live - his reason for loving the movie is hilarious!

I think the license that Americana is referring to is one which enables them to transmit - ie they have been given a frequency to broadcast on - I assume that copyright is a different matter.

I will mail the MCPS dudes and ask them if their promised scheme for wee internet stations exists yet. I doubt it.

The MCPS/PRS have probably got a U-Boat, and hunt down all the unarmed pirate stations with their legislative torpedoes. Many a poor broadcaster must have drowned in bureaucracy. It's a hard life on the high seas of etc etc
