Despite their despicable trail of violence and nastiness, gangs have one thing going for them - and that's inventive names. We've all heard of the Tongs (and the rest - what were the ones with "Shotgun" in the name) in Glasgow - but what more recent and local ones can you remember?
Current topics here include :
Young Leith Team
Young Niddrie Team
Liberton Baby Crew
Young Lochend Shamrocks
Young Mental Royston Gang or YMR
Young Pilton Derry
...and in Dundee :
Hiltoun Huns
....in Fife
Cupar Junior Posse
Young Muchty Mentals
Can you name any others? Were you in one?

Mental Drylaw - sung to some rock tune that at present I can't remember the name. Luckily we can't record sound posts or I'd "sing" it!
And, no, I was not a member although my daft brother did hang about with them for a while.

Young Porty Rebels- and rather worryingly the most junior member of the porty clan has their "song" as ringtone on her phone.

I'm being informed there was a Clery Derry as well. At least that has a ring to it.

YPF - Young Piershill Fleet
I seem to remember them being around in the 70s. Don't know that they still exist now.

The prefix "'Young" seems to be pretty popular, at what age do you think is it no longer permissable to belong to a gang called "Young ........", and do these gang have senior citizen branches, ie. "Old Mental Royston Gang"?

Bar-Ox were around in the sixties.
I can remember them painting "Quick. Quick" before the "slow" on Oxgangs Drive. (and signing it so the polis knew who did it.)
Before that The Jacobites were the big Edinburgh Gang. They were based in the White House in Craigmillar.
I have nothing to say and I'm going to say it.
