Mothers Day

Post by Epykat » 26 Mar 2006, 16:04

Well.....it's now 4pm and I've just had the annual bunch of flowers (obviously put together by somebody with a)no imagination and b)totally colour blind) shoved onto the arm of the settee and a card with the sticky bit still wet ( ) bunged on the coffee table. Almost simultaneously the phone rang and COC croaked a half hearted greeting (she's just up). My children are wonderful - I'm choked ........

Oh yes, make the most of it! I almost miss the days when I got hand made cards with declarations of unending love on them (I've kept them all!). My flowers are (almost) lovely though

I went to morningside and got Mrs Dadaist red tulips and fresh cream pralines from Harvest Garden, with cards from Neo-Dadaist and Oscar the cat, who got her a "you're like a Mother to me" card.

For my own mother, I got an indoor flowering plant from M&S and another card. Mrs Dadaist got a long lie this morning and I made her tea and toast, and we just got back from visiting my mother where, as well as taking her a card, her grand-daughter and the flowering plant, I also made her a gift of 2 bottles of my home-made wine.

I am now going to cook Mrs Dadaist her dinner.

I know I'm just a man, but is this good enough?

I got a box of Thornton's chocs, a tasteful bunch of flowers from 'Ray's' and three handmade cards, one of which is covered in animal stamps. Above the picture of the eagle he's written, "Mum, you soar!"

I'm also getting my Sunday roast cooked for me as I type. I think we should make Mother's Day a monthly event

PS
In the afternoon we visited the Botanics and I was allowed to go round the flower show. Well done to Towerbank for their efforts in the schools' daffodil planting competition. Was good to see a local school represented. :flower: =D>

A mother's day poem from my son aged 9:

"Mum, you are....
as thoughtful as a policeman
as funny as funny can get
as caring as my Grandma
as special as a star
but after all, you are my mum.
Happy Mother's Day"

:? :D

Hey susie - I don't know if they are nice as you get so few to a box I'm not going to ask the lovely Mrs Dadaist for one!

You might know the shop - opposite the Churchill theatre just up from Holy Corner - it's the one with all the flowers outside.

Welcome to the forum, also. You can "edit" your posts once you have made them if you spot a mistake - there's an edit button on the top right of each of your posts.
