It's such a fun idea...they've been painting them in Ocean Terminal for the last few months and the paint jobs are magnificent...can't wait to see some in the Meadows or Haymarket :)

You could buy one, think they are auctioning them off when the parade is finished :D

Just re-read your post DG, guess they wouldn't allow one on the roof :( bah spoilsports.

I absolutely LOVE these cows. Every home should have one. Especially the doctor who gave me a written note declaring I was sane!

Indeed the mystery of allocation deepens - there is one in darkest Preston Pans, marking the site of the magnolian bike-breaking incident of almost exactly a year ago. I was so surprised when I saw it last night that I nearly came off again!

I'm sure one of the Community Council made enquiries but I can't remember why we didn't take it further (it must have been an interesting meeting and my mind was elsewhere obviously). We could have a whipround and bid for one when they're auctioned off though?

I love the baby cows on the side of the Art Gallery btw.

The cows weren't allocated, you had to buy them. You could paint your own design or pay again to have a design done for you (I think) and then they will be auctioned for charity.

I think the initial payment was charitable as well, but am not sure. Just passing on in vaguest terms what a friend who did buy one (on behalf of company) told me.

Knowing some of the people in the Pans, I wouldn't be surprised if one of them got drunk one night and took it home as a souvenir :)

A friend of mine has just acquired one of the 65 cows at the Gala auction for the bovine sum of £2000 plus vat

Other bidders apparently included Ian Rankin who paid £15k, but not sure which beast he selected

I heard from a friend that the Golden Coo of Craigmillar raised £3500.

All in all, around a quarter of a mill was raised! Very well done to everyone concerned. Take a bow ( I said BOW) people. You deserve it! (who the heck am I talking to?)

Did any one see the one that was out side the City Chambers at the Entrance at the High Court ? this one was in a standing up position and it was painted with a kilt on.

Kinda reminded me of Brave heart, it also had the sword in one hand raised and a Shield in the other.

I thought this one was absolutely Fantastic, it would have looked nice in my front garden
