Fiber Fib 2006

Post by impossiblevoices » 27 Jul 2006, 09:23

Was anyone else at fiberfib this year?

We just got back yesterday from Benicassim after having a fantastic time. Highlights include the Pixies (who were simply amazing), Babyshambles, Morrissey (hey, come on, I have never seen him live before...), Rufus Wainright and the mighty Depeche Mode.

Lowlights include camping in the SWELTERING heat...

Anyway, I suppose I should have asked before the event if anyone else was planning to attend, but did anyone else go...?

I can honestly say I've never heard of this festival IV, but looks like an excellent lineup....apart from the camping part  , it sounds brilliant

Speaking of Morrissey, I think he looks especially like Danny Baldwin from Coronation Street in that photie :?

I had never heard of it too but it has been going for years and the list of massive artists that have graced it's stages is huge.

It was a totally different vibe to the UK as well. People were, dare I say it, well behaved and decent to each other. There was no croud control and no visible presence of any kind of authority inside the venue and we saw no trouble at all. The camping was hot but - and get this - the portaloos were emptied and hosed down TWICE a day and there was a full outside shower block that could handle about 60 people at a time.

Compared to festivals in the UK, it makes us look like animals!

I agree about the Danny Baldwin thing as well! He was a bit off with the Spanish croud though - making unfunny remarks about the Spanish education system that only he seemed to understand... He also kept doing the 'thh thh thh, thh thh thh' gag from The Fast Show. A bit crap I felt.

I have few friends who are planning on going to that festival next year instead of T in the park as T in the park has a bit of an edgy atmosphere and is huge in numbers now.

Personally my budget won't stretch to that and it still looks pretty big to me. Going to this though...

Me too! Particularly looking forward to Culture Clash as they feature the only surviving member of the Bhundu Boys.

I'll wear my POL t-shirt. Come up and say hello!
