Chocolate Week

I don't know whose idea it was but this week is apparently Chocolate Week. Who am I to disagree with such a good suggestion? I'm celebrating in an appropriate way.

Dark chocolate whisky truffle in a white chocolate shell. They take a-g-e-s to make but are worth the effort (and mess)

I may have to make more if there's a whole week to celebrate..

Did anyone else see the bit in the Scotsman about some Italians making a chocolate igloo?

I don't know who gets to decide what week it is. At least music and chocolate (and igloos) go well together. Maybe we should start our own calender - as long as we include home-made wine week

An igloo and an Italian? Na- I'd have to share the chocolate. An Italian takeaway perhaps. Pizza, lasangna... possibilities there delivered to chocolate shed with a comfy chair, a nice book, some wine and good music. Downside would be after nibbling for a while the Clangers would find me and start eating their way in.

Does anyone know of a shop around here that sells pure rose oil or pure violet oil of confectionary quality? Failing that, one that sells candied rose or violet petals?

Nearest I can think of as a possibility is Real Foods but that's at Broughton Street....

and even further away (sorry) is anther possibility - Lakeland Ltd, but they do mail order via web which might help you?

I'd be surprised if there wasn't a section for this kind of thing in Scotmid. Have you tried them?

I think Lakeland has discontinued its rose syrup unfortunately, but I have just found a French site for violet liqueur

and a shop selling crystallised roses and violets - in Bruntsfield!

Have you tried Jenners and/or Harvey Nicks - the latter were stocking some exotic stuff last time i looked (but that was two years ago)?
