This was me thinking about you last week:

Hope you look better after 20 miles. (finished in 4 hrs 32 mins)

Aye, lovely day!

We're team 10040 (and team 10055)... All due to some drink induced over ambitiousness. In the first pen

I've just returned from dropping Homer off at the start line. At least they don't have to worry about heatstroke this year .... :toothy2:

No pressure then Wangi!

Can just imagine how happy some of the elite runners will be, starting alongside a heap of relay runners :D

Just back with some film footage from the Promenade. Homer was looking strong and among the front runners at the 5 mile stage. Spotted Ed as well, a little further back but looking comfortable. Everyone in good spirits despite the weather and getting plenty of encouragement.

Yes, heard the brass band as they were setting up, and I was walking/jogging to Fisherrow. Band at Prestonpans was good too.

My team came in at 3:28, with the other team 4 or 5 minutes behind - very happy with that. My own time was 0:44 for 5.8 mile.

Thanks to everyone who helped raise £1500 for Maggie's Cancer Centres.

Managed 4:33 (by my watch). Chris a few minutes later. Double hamstring cramp at 19 miles was almost the nail in the coffin but managed to get back!

I think Homer came in just before her and must be well up in the vet finishing times. I have some footage of him crossing the finish line but my laptop can't cope any more so it could be some time before I'm able to post it. Well done to everyone who took part. Tremendous effort in difficult conditions.

I watched from my window sipping my morning coffee.
Well done, nasty sea breeze to be out in.
We also had the wonderful sight of the bushes below us being used as a pee station
Was surprised some of them could run given the underwear they had on!

Congratulations Ed. That wind was really nasty so to get your goal time was a fantastic achievement. I was looking out for you but unfortunately didn't manage to spot you.

And congrats too to Wangi and team.

You'll both be doing it all again next year then? :D

The wind was horrendous. Basically from Seafield to Gosford (about 15 miles) it was pummelling me in my face. Thank god it blew me home though :-)

PS - no more marathons for me

I said that back in 1976 and I'm still doing them.

Well done to you and Chris. Liked the commentary. That moment when you break through the wall and get your strength back is magic, isn't it?

As for Homer...... my man, that was an impressive time. Salutations.

Homer's official time was 02:54:34 placing him a very creditable 35th out of 750 or so runners. Marya, any idea where he was placed within his age category?

Erm...750 runners, Bob? Looked like more than that to me...!

He was seventh in his age group. He's younger than i thought...!!!

Well done Ed. I was on the beach with my dog when the 8000 runners went past. It was a very unfortunately timed walk for me. I just got onto the beach when I saw one of the runners, a man, run onto the sand, pull down his shorts and proceed to do "his business". Had his getaway not been so fast I would have been able to offer him one of Gus's doggie bags. Yeuch!!!!
