Hamilton House nursery closure

Post by Dadaist » 21 Jun 2007, 13:39

Out of nowhere, Hamilton House is shutting.

My sister had to find an alternative place for my niece quick-smart - and was lucky she did!

The stated reason for the closure is "financial", but the rumour mill has thrown up that :

1. 10 staff have quit recently

2. the Care Commission have been visiting

Anyone else affected? Any other gossip?

It's an impressive building - I wonder if it will become another nursery or if there will be a change of use?

My son used to attend Hamilton House Nursery. We moved him a couple of months ago for a number of reasons.

I don't want to comment on specifics as we have a complaint outstanding but:

1. True as far as I know. Not sure on the numbers but staff have been applying to other Nurseries in Portobello.

2. Its likely that this information will be on the Care Commission website.

Just imagine hanging out in that tower room at the top. That would be a fantastic study/music room/observatory whatever.

I thought it was where wives were supposed to sit and fret as they watched for their husbands coming home from sea. Or spotted what commodities were coming in so as to get a jump on the market. Or something.
