Any other Virgin Media mugs (sorry, customers) having problems with their email? I haven't received any email since Monday, which is rather unusual. My suspicions were confirmed yesterday when someone called to say that they had been trying, unsuccessfully, to send me email. I then sent myself an email and that hasn't arrived either.
The service status page shows a fault being raised yesterday re delays in receiving email with an estimated 4 hour time fix. I would like to phone to complain but they will charge me 25p per minute plus a 10p connection charge for the privilege.
So, instead, I'll have a free moan here and then switch supplier. Come back BT, all is forgiven!

My blueyonder email is fine Bob. Well, obviously as far as I can tell. There's certainly plenty of mail arriving offering me a range of drugs and offering to surprise me with Homer's impressive credentials. ( I often wonder who on earth buys some of that stuff ?)
Do you think it might be personal seeing as your phone is also unobtainable ?

Yes, funny that. I port my number from Virgin to BT and suddenly Virgin customers get a 'number unobtainable' message when they try to contact me.
I have spent many happy hours discussing this, and related matters, with BT, with Virgin Media and latterly with Ofcom.
The whole sorry saga has been going on for months. BT blame Virgin and suggest they are being deliberately obstructive, Virgin blame BT and won't entertain my complaint as I'm no longer a customer. I won't bore you or raise my blood pressure again by relating the details.
My BT broadband equipment is scheduled to arrive today prior to 5pm. If you see the van give me a ring, sorry, I mean email me, no I mean post here.
And if it doesn't, someone may have to die.

I thought you might like to read about the experience of another VM customer who, remarkably, had the will to write it all out. Some kind of therapy I guess:

I imagine that Neil Burkett is rarely troubled with this sort of actual punter problem in the general course of duty. The first couple of emails he got were most likely a bit of a novelty and he enjoyed getting his hands dirty and making things happen. Once his email address appeared on a discussion forum however, he was no doubt deluged with messages from people with similar complaints, all hoping he would be their saviour, at which point he suddenly lost interest and went back to the golf course.
Forgive my cynicism. My broadband equipment, you may be interested to know, was loaded onto the vehicle at the Edinburgh depot at 07:14:15 today. Current whereabouts unknown.
Meanwhile, I'm whiling away the time here:

Well the equipment turned up eventually and I'm up and running again. So far so good. The broadband phone gives me free evening and weekend calls, the second computer and laptop both connect wirelessly with the hub and the BT Vision V+ box arrives in a week or so.
I've given up my Virgin Media account so the old email address no longer works. My new address can be found in my profile for anyone who needs it and will be reflected in email links on Portobello Online in the next day or two.
It's pretty easy to recommend something that I'm basically getting for free, but the BT Total Broadband package (Option 3) is definitely worth considering. I'm also planning to give up Setanta. The PQ is crap and the BT basic sports package gives me all the English Premier League football I need for £4 a month, albeit delayed transmission.
