Hadn't thought of that connection!
This was one desperate housewife until daughter found blown fuse. Thought it was something far worse wrong with car. It just cut out and wouldn't start again. Then we noticed central locking wasn't working either.

Heard last night that it's a bit like 'La Vie En Rose' only with furniture.

interesting, will be worth a look - its got a wire heart hanging thing that you can put photos/notes/etc on - which I have wanted from plumo
http://www.plumo.com/ for a while in the window

La Vie En Rose, has some nice furniture for sale too.

I always find La Vie en Rose a tad confusing, in that it doesn't know what it wants to be. Is it a toy shop, a card shop, a smellies shop or a jewellery shop? Its a bit on the expensive side as well. Some nice things though. They do a good 'Very Hungry Caterpillar' colouring book.

don't find it that expensive, I've got some great pressies there. The jewellery is especially reasonable.
Went to WL today, interesting shop. Some unusual stuff. Nice soap selection though.

No furniture for sale though, Marya

The ex-antiques shop at the top of Marlborough Street has been bought by what sounds like a kitchen design/fitting company from the blurb in the window. Have already forgotten most of what I read (), but they are opening early next year.

Poppy- I'm still owe you.
The shop is going to be a sort of project design/management company. They will help coordinate projects such as house extensions etc. Find the tradesman and run the operation.
The owner is a local guy.

Went in today for a look and picked their business card: "Life style interiors - French Furniture, Chandeliers, Soaps, Candles, Jewellery, Vintage and Gifts". Says it all really.
There's some nice stuff but I wasn't in a spending mood so was able to resist!!

We were in the new wine shop today, mostly for a nose around.
Lots of nice wines and an interesting beer/lager selectoin.
They also stock Green and Blacks chocolate
Mr Soupy got some beer for later tonight.
Saw Portys new shop, rather smart.
Saw Porty frowning at his computer.

It's basically all the same stuff as the Fisherrow shop (maybe without the cheese?), but in a bigger & more open shop.
Choices choices... Fisherrow or Porty...

Hey, if Musselburgh has cheese then we want cheese as well. We like a bit of Dairylea with our Lambrini.
I was disappointed to discover that the shop closes at 8:30 pm. I was reliably informed the following day that it was only drunks who shopped for alcohol after that time. That'll be me then. (I had just finished playing badminton and was stone-cold sober, for the record.)
Nevertheless, nice selection of beers and some 4 for £6 offers. Green & Black chocolate is always tempting and Tyrell crisps coming soon.

It's Mellis cheese they sell in Fishy, isn't it, but Kitcheners already has that franchise in Porty.....?

Now cheese and booze would be heaven for Mr Soupy.
He doesn't care for chocolate much

'Booze and News' at Abbeyhill - now there's a shop that knows its target audience
8.30 pm is much too early to close

I hear the one of the dentists along at Red Giant is the daughter of one from Brighton Place.

Does anyone know what's happening at the emtpy shop next to Polar Flame Music?
I assume it's their skip that's parked (illegaly?) on the road?

Porty posted this earlier in the thread Ceejam. Sounds as though the shop itself is their first project

I believe a message has been posted on the shop window explaining the circumstances.

Was it the curse of the calendar?
Someone kindly posted a free one through our letterbox the other day with a "wish you a merry xmas" message. Epykat came under immediate suspicion but was cleared when i realised that it was anonymous.
i know its bad luck to hang a calendar prior to Jan 1st. Whats the penance for shredding one without even opening it?

Haven't actually read it myself but I understand that family circumstances and other business interests are cited as the reasons for selling up.
I was a bit surprised that they persevered with the late-night opening for so long as it never really took off. Admittedly, they were unlucky to get such a lousy summer which certainly didn't help.
So, what's next? PEDAL community cafe? Solar panels, wind turbines and a few chickens pecking around outside?

Looks way too hard work. Its the lease and business for sale not the premises. Sounds like its something other than trading conditions. Its a pity all round.

Re Demi: she is going to concentrate on the classes she gives on flower arranging and will continue to "do" flowers for special events like weddings. Basically working from home.

yeah she said that, I went in to enquire about her evening classes and she said she was giving up the shop to do more profitable things such as the classes and wedding flowers from home.
