ditto, don't have a clue who she is.
This might explain things a wee bit.
MacLaren gets needle over tattoo
Her alleged dislike of the photo, however, is probably self explanatory!

There was a bit in the EN about oor cooncillors not liking the photys and asking for nicer ones to be used.
That was one of the ones objected to

To get back on topic (boo!!), I noticed today that the old Global Video shop had "Sauna opening here soon" written in the whitewash on the window.....but, on reflection, I think it might be a reference to the working conditions in this sultry weather????!!

Does anyone know what the Global Video shop is going to be and when it's due to open?

Re the what: in March this year, Bob J posted this:
Bob Jefferson wrote:I'm finding the
Planning Applications section on Portobello Online quite useful.
Just spotted this application for 218 Portobello High Street, or Global Video as you will know it:
Change of use from disused vido rental store to a coffee and jewellery shop, selling coffee, snacks, dress jewellery and small dress accessories.
Coffee and jewellery? Sounds like a girl thing. And you better make it a skinny latte if you want to fit into that small dress.
Re the when: still being done up...

What I saw seemed to have a far east feel. And the tables have objects under their glass tops: a bit like in museums, if you know what I mean.
Also, one half of Mark Smith's double shop is now a computer learning place of some sort.

Does anyone know the name of the new computer training shop? I noticed that they had an ad in that free leaflet that was delivered but I don't have it to hand and I want to get in touch with them.

According to the postcard that was delivered today (with the Reporter, I think??) the cafe-cum-jewllery shop at 218 Portobello High Street opens on Saturday 8th.

I don't get the place, I was in there on Saturday and suddenly, without warning, almost everyone ducked under their table. Less than a minute later everything was back to thriving. I felt a bit left out, don't know what thats all about?

Yep. The name means 'beautiful' in Chinese (the owner studied Chinese at university, back home in Oz).
Hope she does well. Her stock is different to 'Artisan' and 'La Vie en Rose' so hopefully there is a market for them all.
I treated myself to a nice necklace and a pair of earrings and Matt got a chocolate muffin, as compensation for having to spend time in such a girly surrounding.
On our way back we passed Ali. I gave him a broad smile, but my cheery 'Hello' was stopped in its tracks by the complete lack of recognition on his part

To be fair he is getting on in years ecm and maybe he should be considering bifocals? Next time I'll try wearing my anorak and wave a packet of rich tea biscuits at him; that ought to get a reaction.
