I'm intrigued!
Now, I may be rather dense, but do spill the beans:
what does your tag-line refer to?

I actually grew up in the Borders town of Earlston but moved to Gala when I was 16. I was heavily involved in the local community from then till I left and was a bit of an adopted gala boy. Gala is home really despite all my years growing up in Earlston. Earlsons a different place now, gone are the days when everyone knew each other, its full of strangers now. My daughter lives in Gala too. Ive been in porty since 2005 I think but its not home, im just passing through here. Its actually kinda funny, you can be literally anywhere and the minute you mention your from gala someone will call you a Pail Merk, I think they think thats a kind term for someone from gala, not a cheap insult from the hawick soap dodgers...lol..but we gala people take it in good jest.wikipedia wrote:There is some largely good-hearted rivalry between some of the Galashiels townsfolk and those of other border towns, particularly Hawick, the largest town in the Scottish Borders. Galashiels's citizens often refer to their rival as dirty Hawick while the 'Teries' retort that Galashiels's residents are pail merks, supposedly because their town was the last to be plumbed into the mains water system and so residents had to rely on buckets as toilets

I noticed the other day you were threatening to join Fathers 4 justice Michael. Should we look forward to you storming the next Community council meeting clad in a lycra Batman outfit or carrying out a roof top protest on Porty Town Hall, dressed as Santa Claus?

you seem to have a problem with the CSA. Have they been reading your posts about all the overtime you've been amassing?CSA hater #902897611248

Dont get me started, they should start giving grief to those who dont pay for their kids instead of us who have always paid for their kids.Marya wrote:I noticed the other day you were threatening to join Fathers 4 justice Michael. Me and my ex partner went through the CSA last year. I was assessed at the start of this year and basically after paying my rent, council tax and electric. I have £37 a week to live off. IE, food, clothing, travel to work, other household bills etc; I see my daughter atlease once a week which in itself costs £5 each way on the bus. Mildly irritating.
Sorry, I missed out a key element of the story.
Their whole assessment was wrong the first time, which they realised after I made 4 phone calls. So they re-done it using latest payslips etc; and it went up, approaching the £200 a week mark.
So its now being done for a third time apparently. Its such a carry on.

I have always paid my way when it comes to my wee girl. Always paid my way and paid for those other essentials like uniforms etc etc;Marya wrote:Can see why you might not be planning a holiday this year!
Glad to hear, though, that you see your daughter regularly and are supporting her. All credit to you. Too many others give up on their responsibilities.
I dont have a problem with paying my way, but I have a real problem with the figure the CSA are coming up with. I dont see how an eight year old can need more than say £60 a week.
No, I mean a week. Its a complete cock up.Marya wrote:Eh?! Are you sure they don't mean a month? To pay £200 a week you'd need to earn about £1300 a week after tax or be Sir Fred Goodwin!BeachBum wrote:they re-done it using latest payslips etc; and it went up, approaching the £200 a week mark.
It would be easier if I was under the new rules. If you go on the website there is a calculator which works out likly amounts using the new rules. its far simpler. But for us on the old rules they apparently use a whole host of formulas. Which are ofcourse useless if they screw up the figures they start with (as in my case).
