Traders' calendar

Post by Guest » 07 Oct 2004, 22:24

Today was the day when the photos were taken for the Traders' Calendar. The idea was to produce a 2005 calendar, featuring local shop-keepers with proceeds going to the PCATS campaign.

I'm sure Porty can give us more detail, but I know that there was a 'film' theme, with Findlay's going for the Braveheart look and John Williamsons, the fishmonger, as the Codfather - complete with pin-stripe suit, and a violin case with a salmon sticking out. Obviously a MUST for Xmas, along with a Portobello Online T-shirt natch.

COC was dressed as a pirate today. At last - I knew she'd be a pin up eventually!
Will you be selling them on here then Bob?

I imagine they will be on sale via local shops, but yeah - add to shopping cart 3 traders calendars and 5 Portobello Online T-shirts, proceed to check-out where COC will gift wrap your purchase. It could happen!

DC Cairns will be the best placed to inform the POL community. She is the engine that is powering the project. What a great job. :)

Thanks - it's nice to be appreciated. However, being a woman, I believe that one should retain a certain allure of mystery, i.e. not reveal too much at once. Suffice to say, like all good things, it will be worth waiting for!

Yes, it's now against the forum rules to point out bad spelling, grammar, punctuation or otherwise poor use of English.

So, if someone says "mear" and you know it's spelt "mere", you can't point that out to them - especially not if it's part of an ongoing argument and you are bemused that your opponent can't spell.

You should also steer clear of going off topic in threads about one thing with nit-picking about .... OH DUH!!!

Behaving in a polite manner towards other posters is not something new.

Jeez man - let it go! I know fine well how to spell "mere". Just because I misspelt it once doesn't mean I cannot spell!

Have you nothing better to remember than something I misspelt on Sunday???

Surely you must understand the near-autistic obsessive-compulsive nature of the computer scientist. Just cos all of your t-shirts aren't black and you wash occasionally doesn't mean that you're not one part in ten nerd.

After all, I bet you read the manual that came with your camera....

*************************************

The Stars of Portobello are coming out!

That is, the local traders, who are appearing as you’ve never seen them before.

Look out for the best calendar from a community group since Calendar Girls. And yes, we did pursuade the traders to keep their clothes on.

Official launch is Saturday 13th November - more details of this will be posted soon. In the meantime order your copies from traders displaying ‘The Stars of Portobello’ posters. Great value at just £5.

I would advise buying two. One to use (obviously) and a second stowed away for posterity. Imagine the historic value of this in a hundred year's time!

A traders calendar and a Portobello Online T-shirt - what else could you possibly want for Xmas?
