I don't know much about the internal politics of the local Labour party or its selection process but this doesn't sound good. Can we have Lawrence Marshall back please?

Don't know the bloke and I would prefer Lawrence but I understand he was well gubbed in the selection process, failing to get anything like enough support when it came to the vote.

I don't think democracy works very well at the micro level. Self-serving cabals are too easily formed.

There is something in what you say, at most there was 100 labour party members who were eligible to vote. I don't know what percentage of them pitched up on the night? Must be fairly easy to get a nucleus of support going, when there's four or five candidates to split the votes.

I'm neither a supporter nor a detractor. I know as much about him as you do. I've just always believed in keeping an open mind and I don't believe everything I read in the EN. I find there is always another side to any story so look forward to hearing what he has to say for himself.

Which parts of the EN article do you think are untrue? I would imagine they have been pretty careful in sticking to the facts to avoid being sued for libel.

The only people he will work hard for is himself, his biatch and Nolan .

In 2008 The City of Edinburgh Council had to take him and several others to the Court of Session at a cost of £75,000 (of our money) to get them off Community Council because they were there illegally and ignoring the majority’s needs as usual.

Court of session; works only for himself, his biatch and runs roughshod over his Community Council.-

Could someone with those credentials get enough votes to become a City Councillor here in Portobello?
