Hi Claire, we're waiting for wangi, sorry Lee Kindness, to confirm but I think there could be technical problems with that. Do you have another name or are you just Claire?

I'm more comfortable just using Claire, Bob - from a safety point of view, given that anyone can read this board. I've got nothing to hide - but I don't use my surname on *any* public forum - and I think you'll find that's generally agreed to be best practice. This might be a community forum, but it *is* public and available to anyone web-user, which is why people are encouraged not to reveal their actual identities online.
There's a lot of strange people out there - and this is meant in a very general sense, and is most definitely NOT directed at any person engaged in debate.
So I would caution other posters not to disclose their full details, as a basic security precaution.

That's OK, Claire is a good start. So, I wonder if Lashylass feels ready to follow suit and reveal his/her first name?

Wonder if Reg will join in. What do you think Bob? you're the only person who seems to know him.

I'd be delighted if Reg was willing to divulge his real name, if only so that you would have to admit that you were wrong all along.

Given that anyone can find out all of your details on the web anyhow - its pointless hiding last names in my view.

Some people do have genuine fears about the internet. Many of these are groundless or exaggerated but I can imagine one or two situations where you might not want to show up on a search. Claire has at least met us halfway and we have to respect her reasons for not divulging her surname. Lashylass, on the other hand, seems determined to remain anonymous. I wonder why?

Yes Bob some people do have fears about personal details being wrongly used. You recently cooked up a little site on which you delighted in sharing some people' personal details, including salaries, jobs etc. That's not nice. I will not be divulging my details.

This reminds me of a recent experience I had at the gym. Some people put a petition together to request they changed the reservation system to allow telephone booking, because it suited them better. I was dead against it, as it was a fundamental change to the basis on which I joined.

Same goes for TP. I think it would be better if there was total transparency BUT many people joined and participated on the basis they could remain anonymous. As long as they contribute civily and within the rules they ought to be allowed to remain anonymous.

I was lying.....

I doubt it, but you may be mistaken, I don't believe you have been called vacuous or a liar, so it may be that you are aggrieved and/or hurt by something that hasn't occurred. I would ask you again to direct me to where those slurs manifested but I'm fairly sure I'd be wasting my time. You are not one for conceding you may be incorrect or mistaken, regardless of what evidence is put to you.

OK, let's sort this one out. It's quite simple to do a search on the phrase 'vacuous liar' and it transpires that the only person who has used it is....Epykat.

What I think Avril may be referring to is this post by Seanie from July last year, which obviously needs to be read in context:
Fine. But is there any reason you should be taken seriously? If you're just going to say things without justification, that's fairly vacuous.

Let's stick to the facts. No-one on this forum has ever used the phrases "vacuous liar" or "bullshitting liar" except you or people quoting you. Again, it's easy enough to search these phrases.

On the other hand, you did say this:
You're bullshitting. Honestly Sean, you talk such a lot of freaking tosh, I just can't keep up.

And maybe we've all said a few things we regret or that could have been phrased better. And maybe a few things have been blown out of proportion? So let's draw a line. But there is no room on this forum, as far as I'm concerned, for trolls like Lashylass and again I'm calling for an end to anonymity as a first step towards creating a more civilised atmosphere in which we can debate in a respectful manner some of the very important local issues that affect all of us.

Right, I'm outing you for starters. If you don't know, Pal of Porty is Dave Davidson. He is, as his name implies, a pal of Porty, otherwise known as Stevie McIntyre. There used to be a 'Pal of Pal of Porty' but I don't know what happened to him. Perhaps he is the sleeping partner.

So, in the rough and tumble of the internet you had a difference of opinion with someone and you gave as good as you got? And now it's another day.

I didn't for one and I've been on this forum for the past eight years.

Nice to know you POP, always glad to meet another Dave.

Just sorry that you were outed in this way. You're absolutely right. It should have been your decision, not one made for you, especially when that action is based on an assumption and a totally spurious justification. (Bob and I know each other so I feel I can pick him up on things like this without being accused of bullying  )
I have nothing to say and I'm going to say it.
