I saw Stacey play alongside her brother (and nephew) a few years back, as part of Glasgow's Celtic Connections Festival, Gedge. Couldn't take to her performance very much. She was trying very hard to act 'cooky' ,with cutsey little knock-kneed dances and giggly intros, which I found plain irritating

Maybe if I just listened to her singing and didn't have to watch her it would be OK

Was lsitening to The Arrow (DAB station) the other day. One of the presenters said he was out driving with Steve Earle one day and in a half hour drive Steve pointed out 3 ex-wives houses.

Ali, just PMed me that link. It could be them but when I heard it the other day it was a new 7 song EP. I can see no mention of it on the Discography.

I should have listened more closely to The Arrow.
They have a sunday night show of all things new and they played this band. think they mentioned alison moorer in the same breath.

I could have googled but when we have all this musical knowledge here on POL, why bother?

BTW, I notice you haven't pooped that Seguro Rosso CD into my emporium yet.

I knew I promised someone the Sigur Ros but I couldn't remember who and then I thought I'd just imagined it all.

I shall prepare to poop shortly.

I don't know much of Calexico's stuff - Ali had the Feast of Wire album some time back and I remember really quite liking it.

That's not much of a recommendation really. Radiohead? I talk such rubbish - and not just when under the influence of alcohol.

Yep Calexico is the band but I don't know the song you heard. I do have some Calexico and will include a few tunes in future compilations.

Ryan Adams and Counting Crows are not directly related. Although there are some bootlegs floating around of Ryan and Adam Duritz (Counting Crow's lead singer) performing together including a great version of Rocket Man.

I have some Alison Krauss, which I think might come under "blue grass". Where does that put me on the naff/uncool scale?

I like Alison Krauss and reckon she and bluegrass are pretty cool!

I was sorry to have missed her recent concert at the Usher Hall, it got rave reviews.

Or you could get yourselves along to Cabaret Voltaire and see a great example of Americana in the nashville based The Believers. I saw them last year in Austin and they were fab. Some of you may have heard them on the Tom Morton show this week or on the Bob Harris show last night

Logged on in time to hear John Prine from AmericanaOK's list. I saw him about a year ago at the Queen's Hall. Even although he was struggling with a sore throat, he was good on the ears.
