How to post pictures on Portyweb

Err... I can do it, but I'm not sure I can say how to do it...

For an image that already exists on a web page, the basic technique is to find out the address of the image. You do this by clicking the image with your right mouse button. (I'm assuming you're using Internet Explorer. Techies often use different browsers (I use Opera) so I'm learning this as I go along. Under the heading Address (URL) you will see the complete address of the image - it will look something like

http://www.morrice.info/wallpaper/image ... _thumb.jpg

Okay. Now you need to copy this address onto your clipboard. There are various ways of doing this. I highlight the whole address, then right-click, then select copy from the choices offered to me.

Okay.

Now go to Portyweb and start posting. When you get to the bit of the page where you want to insert the image, press the Img button, just above the box where you input the text. Then, without leaving any spaces, right-click again and select paste from the options offered to you. Then, again without leaving any spaces, click Img again. Press submit, and your image should appear on screen like this:

Unfortunately, some web-hosts won't let you link to images from Portyweb (or anywhere else, for that matter) and I think this is what happened with Bellybabe's images.

Of course, this all rather leaves open the question of how you get the image onto some web-space, but it's tea-time so I'll stop for the moment. Anyone else want to take over?

Alex - thanks for saving me some work. Carla - I believe you have an account with Freeserve, now Wanadoo. If this is the case you should go to their home page at www.wanadoo.co.uk and find out how to use your free webspace. (I'm assuming here that you aren't already using it). You can then post your photos to your own site and link to them from the forum as Alex has explained.

I see that Wanadoo also has a free online photo album service and this might be even easier but I'm not sure how this works or if you can link to it in the same way.

A third option would be to email your photo to a friend who already has a website set up and ask them to host it.

We would gladly host everyone's photos on our own server but we are running out of space ourselves.

wooppeeeee!!!!! thank you comrade techies ----- you may regret this but hopefully not as I am a bit lazy on the photography side of things..... Carla
PS I had to vary your instructions a teensy bit Alex - and no idea if I use Internet Explorer by the way - it wouldn't paste for me from the drop down menu after pressing IMG but I did the Copy and Paste thingy - already copied the address onto clipboard using control and c and then pasted it using control and v......sure that is really clear - have a go folks - if I can do it anyone can believe me!

Forgot to say, in case anyone else has a Hotmail account or your email account might do this to, I had pictures saved on my computer and somehow managed to save these onto the web using my Hotmail account - though like Alex not sure I can explain how I did this - I think I clicked on Save Pictures to Web on my Computer and it just told me what to do - make sure you are on the Internet at the time probably helps - that's as much as I can tell you!

Carla - I can't see your image. Is this just me or is anyone else in the same position?
