Glad it went well!
:D
BTW I was completely confused about legislation - I was thinking of the Additional Support for Learning Act. Not that i really know anything about it.

Glad you feel more positive now Izzie. To be fair to the school, it can sometimes be very difficult to balance out their duty to protect pupils in their care from disruption from other pupils, while also making allowances for the needs of the individual pupil. Hopefully, the meeting this morning will put some strategies in place, which will improve matters for everyone.

Glad to hear it went well. Sounds like you and yours need more support than you're getting. It sounded like the school didn't have a full understanding of Ks condition.
Well done in biting your tongue ( and not blasting them all down).

Everyone needs agood rant now and again.
In our house we can get Mr Soupy going on "potholes and speed bumps". eldest daughter on LRT timetables "great work of fiction, no wonder Ian Rankin started on mystery books with these as inpiration"
Youngest daughter on most things vegetarian and not killing wasps in the house. ( I revised that one after being stung helping one out , ungrateful wretch!)

If someone has no frontal lobe in the brain how can I help them?

We have not long been told this about K she has been getting into lots of scraps at school with pupils and teachers and then gets sent home.this is what she wants and thinks its good to be home with mum.

We are having a big meetting soon at her s/n school and I have all sorts of docs coming from the hospital. She is getting 1 to 1 at school but they let her loose in the playground and she can't cope with all that freedom.

All help on this matter would be most helpfull to me as I want to go in there guns blazing.
Don't know if this link help you. I hope it does.

Good site on ADHD K has been on Strattera for nearly a year now and what a life saver that tablet has been.

But it is good to know she will have ADHD when she is an adult I think :? :? :?

the less people who read this the better, although Izzy i hope this may be of some help to you. The YPU (i am sure you may have already heard of this) have a "day centre" - it is a lot more intensive than outpatients but not as restrictive as IP, AND they give loads of help with schoolwork etc. have you considered this? i have to say i highly recommend it, if that place did not exist it is likely i would have no standard grades or highers at all, and likely no future prospects whatsoever - the staff are lovely, extremely patient and understanding and there is even a garden with fun stuff 8)

The YPU run a "day programme" which combines schoolwork (people come in to teach classes) with other things like art therapy and other things (im talking a good 5-6 years ago now, although i am sure it hasn't changed a huge amount) there were around 20-25 kids there all aged from 12ish to 17/18 - other things we done were "relaxation techniques" and strategies for coping with anxiety and schoolwork, exams etc...i am not sure of the exact referral criteria, although it is worth badgering the YPU or your GP or whoever else you are involved with about...older kids (doing highers etc) can go out to college 2 or 3 times a week, i think mostly Stevenson or possibly Jewel & Esk..
It is better than IP because you don't stay overnight or weekends. The good thing is it doesn't really seem like a "hospital" setting or anything, it just seems like a relaxed school environment, with more understanding 'teachers'.
i have tried to find some more up-to-date info on the web but there it is few & far between...with no real information :?
